New Exhaust Tips!

New Exhaust Tips!
After much researching, I was finally able to pull the trigger on new exhaust tips. I have a FWD TL and did not want to do a full exhaust or catback. I did want the 4" Quad Tips. I totally credit Matt on Acurazine for doing this first. Tips cost $132.00 shipped from Ebay + $100.00 to install. Very Happy, So Far!

even though tips are 4 inch.. they look rather small compared to my atlp which is the same size..
there is a lot of gap on the top side of the exhaust. maybe you should move it up a bit.... but given the choice.. i rather have spent 300 dollars on magnaflow muffer and tips.. just my take on it.

On my 2012 bumper (see below), it fits great. I told my installer exactly how I wanted it installed, and when he tack welded the tips on, I gave him the OK to proceed with the full weld.
In the end, these are 4 inch tips... even on a 2009-2011 bumper, just copy how the ATLP's sit, and they should look fine.

I agree with Matt here. The space would be filled out if they were welded more straight on center and higher up.

Keep in mind this is an inexpensive way to get the 4" quad tip look. There are some flaws when installing them on a 09-11 TL. The tips need to be raised and moved over about a 1/2 inch, which is not possible without additional mods to the stock exhaust. I do feel they look better in person than on the pictures. I have been sick of looking at the stock tips and wanted a change. I saved the old tips and they can be welded back on at any time. Last, I drive my car on over 24,000 miles per year and wanted to retain the stock exhaust and keep the quietness of the car. I have been in TL's and other Honda's with Catbacks and Magnaflow Muffler Only systems and they do get to loud for my taste and have drone.

Matt had his installed on his 09-11 TL, and he had the installer weld the tips straight on to the mufflers. I have a 2012 TL, and I followed the same direction.
In fact, he specified that key point in his build thread, so that's what I told my installer to do. Looking at both of our install pics, we have similar results.
If you chop off about an inch off the back of the new tip and have your installer weld it straight onto the muffler, then the exhaust holes will still line up, and they could be brought more to center and up.
If I ever wanted to switch back stock tips, I'd just have the cut pipe from the original tip welded back in place and then spray paint the new weld flat black.

I had the new tips cut down at the manufactured weld and the installer welded them directly to the muffler. They were welded so they could be at the highest point and farthest to the right. I am not sure why my would come out different that Matts. Maybe the tip changed slightly!

I have a 2010 TL SH-AWD and I went with the 3.5" from So Cal AutoSports and they worked out well and fit in the stock opening pretty well.

Those tips are available with different inlet sizes,it may be possible that your set has a smaller inlet than Matt's,as a result you cannot move them further to the right or upwards, just a thought.

I actually got the 2.5 inlets. Maybe that's why they were able to move them up a little more.
Another option may be to adjust the rubber that the exhaust hangers are on. Maybe find some shorter ones which would pull it up a bit.
On another note.... I love that damn color!

I have the K40 RL360 with the laser diffusers, 2 jammer heads on front and one on the back. Wanted the more stealth look over the escort/passport. I have been saved several times and the laser diffusers have been tested by actual police I know!
