Magnaflows are going on now

Putting the new mufflers on now, I decided to keep the stock tips though. I will update the thread on my thoughts after I hear them for a little while.

I know it takes a little while for mufflers to break in, but so far I'm nor impressed. The sound is more like an exhaust leak than a nice appreciate tone I was looking for. Definitely not the far can noise which I wanted nothing to do with, but no where near the nice exhaust note of the g37. Im going to give it a month or so and see how they break in.

I don't think I've ever heard you say anything positive about the 4G TL...

I have, but this thread is about the magnaflow mufflers not the car itself. But I guess it's about the car a little. I listened to a lot of members who said the magnaflow swap would give it an Infiniti sound. I was really skeptical about getting that from just a pure muffler swap.

Brock79, please forget about your TL.

Stop sinking more money into the TL. There is nothing good coming out of it. Nothing but grief and disappointment.

You'll feel much better spending the money in modding your SHO instead.

Remember this. Life is short. There is nothing worst in life than to drive around daily in a car that you don't like nor enjoy driving.

I rarely drive my TL and my SHO is modded out to the exact point I want it to be. Spending 140 bucks for mufflers and having them installed for free isn't really sinking money into a car. I plan on either just living with the Acura for another year maybe less and trading it in. Otherwise I will have it for a long time, putting 6k miles a year on it will take quite sometime to kill it.

what you expect from a $140 muffler? you cant replicate a g37 engine should with this car.. its far from it.. my ATLP from what i was told sounds nice but no where near g37 as you wanted to replicate..

trust me.. from a guy that had a g35 (same sound as a g37) coupe and also a 4g TL.. you cannot and wont ever get close to that sound..

you get what you pay for at the end of the day..

and also, if you knew anything about the g35 you would know that the engine is what makes the sound not the exhaust... you can change out the exhaust to aftermarket on the g35 and you can still hear the same type of sound only louder..

This setup is the closest I've ever heard a TL sound like a G37, however he's revving the shit out of the car and it's stationary, it likely sounds different under load on acceleration. As I've said in every other TL disappointment thread you post just be done with the car.

I hate saying this but if a G37 sound turns you on there really isn't much better thing to do that look at getting one. I love Honda with a passion but even a VFR could not get me that Ducati sound...had to go twin to get the tingles going.

It is very interesting how many people over the years have said they wanted the G- sound from their J-series. I always wondered why people didn't switch up...

^^^^^

Speaking from experience, is there any intake/j-pipe/header/exhaust/muffler system out there in the market, that can make a J-series V6 sounds like the G35/G37 ?

to simply answer.. no.. its not the exhaust or headers that make the g35/37 sound like it does.. its the engine.

I don't blame guys trying to make their cars sound like the G series coupes. I had a g35 coupe with a magnaflow catback, it was saaawweeeet. I just installed some borla universal mufflers on my Tl Sh hoping to regain some of that sexy that sound. The TL sounds good, compared to the G's exhaust though, no comparison.

As PotMilkz said, no matter what exhaust you install, it is the engine that ultimately makes the noise. The J series still sounds great with a good exhaust combo. In my opinion it sounds just as good if not better than the G series.
