Magnaflow 11225's Installed
Decided to do the Magnaflow mufflers today. Mufflers are $75 a piece on Amazon - I paid the shop $100 a piece for them (but supporting a friend's local business). Shop labor was $100 to remove the old mufflers, re-use the factory tips, and install, and all said and done took about 90 minutes / just shy of 2 hours. Basically - $300 sport exhaust - using Magnaflows.
The sound: I like it. It does have a low, low, low drone at low rpms, but it's not but barely audible from the cabin.
The sound is aggressive (but not ricey) - deep tone, bits of rasp on the downspin.
It sounds as good as anything I've heard in videos - and videos don't do the sound justice on any of these things.
I'll get a sound clip up.

Even though i think it sounds good, there is not much of a difference from stock.
I dont see the point in spending the 2-3 hundred bucks if your practically not doing much.
It seems you don't like the XLR8 exhaust because its too loud but thats what i get most compliments about.
I do agree its loud but i guess its all about personal preference.

^^^ adding a resonator will quite it down ? NO ?

yes, but i actually like how loud it is.
The only time i find a loud exhaust annoying is when its on a slow car. You here a bunch of noise and when you look they are still a block away lol

I didn't honestly feel any discernable gain from all the bolt-ons until I did the mufflers. I believe doing just the exhaust will add some pep.
Having had it all bolted up for a few gas tanks now, I gotta say, It's not all that impressive. I think we're fighting sensor/computer issues on the bolt-ons gaining what they traditionally have gained.
The car SOUNDS much meaner, but I'd be surprised if it's breaking any better than 14 flat 1/4 miles with 98-99 mph traps.

I have been thinking of doing the j-pipe and magnaflows, but if the gains are minimal, I'll just keep it stock. TIA.

Hi everyone! I used to have a 2004 TL. On my old TL, I removed the mid-muffler and replaced the stock resonator with a magnaflow resonator. I also installed an Injen cold air intake. To be honest, that was the perfect sound! I recently sold my old TL and currently own a 2012 TL SH-AWD. I wanted to modify the exhaust to enhance the sound without making it too ricey and loud.
First question I had was, does anyone make a cold air intake for the 2012 SH-AWD (3.7 liter engine)?
Second question, instead of replacing the stock resonator with a magnaflow, I was thinking of trying the dynomax resonator instead. Does anyone know what model dynomax resonator would fit on my new car?
Last but not least, Pseudo, I like the sound of your exhaust. Do you recommend the magnaflow mufflers or mid-muffler delete with a new resonator? Also, with the magnaflow mufflers, do you notice any raspiness or a constant drone?
Thanks!

What do you think your total gains are with all the work you have done (assuming it is all in the sticky), and knowing what you know now, do you think it was worth it.
I have been thinking of doing the j-pipe and magnaflows, but if the gains are minimal, I'll just keep it stock. TIA.

The car is definitely quicker - and measurably. Maybe 25 hp total gains on the low end of estimation and 45 hp total gains on the high end. I'd say it's a fair statement that I've got 20hp across the powerband, with some better peaks.

Advanced
I just installed this mufflers today on my 09 FWD TL, and this isn't exact fit replacement for the stock muffler. Basically the muffler shop guy tell me it is doable, but they need to cut some piper before the muffler to make the Magnaflows fit with the original stock exhaust piping becuase the outlet / inlet size of this mufflers isn't the same exact fit with the stock ones.
