Hey nothing wrong with Borla...

But we woulda loved to help you with that system. I'm in PDX as well!

I'm in for this set up if there's a solution for less drone and more hp.

Any eta on that MrHeeltoe?

I love the tips on the XLR8, any chance you guys are bumping down the size of the tips as well? On my daily driver the absolute last thing I want is any type of drone - so less drone is always better!

Its one of those things where I said "4G is nice as is, I think I'm not going to mod". Then I get a K-Tuner and here I am looking at exhaust mods..... The 4G ATLP Non res Quad exhaust, I had it on my 3G and loved everything about it except the rasp ( I had deletes), but lovvved that ROARRR. This time I will be getting HFPC's for sure

The ATLP for the 4g is a bit of a different beast depending on if you have a FWD or AWD car. Which are you?

Yes we are wrapping up production now with the first parts shipping shortly.

Bump down the tips? And loose the hand crafted awesomeness the signature ATLP look? Yeah not everyone has the same tastes, but we love the 4" designs. The sounds though we think everyone will agree is a real step above now.

We'll sell the resonators separately, yes. If you can send us your pipes we can weld them in. But I don't think we will be selling complete bolt in pipes right now. Perhaps later on...or maybe we can do an exchange program.

I had the pleasure of seeing the ATLP exhaust in person and have to say that I am impressed with the quality and looks of it. I can also vouch for HeelToe as a great company to do business with. I'm not into loud exhaust systems and lean more towards a tame/tuned sound. I wish I could have heard the exhaust myself. Anyway, I am curious if anyone who had complaints about drone ever tried to add sound deadening (dynamat) to their cars? If there's anyone who tried this option, was it enough to suit your needs?

It really is too bad you didn't hear it, because it's loud as F#%@k, not that XLR8 isn't.

I have a buddy who picked up the ATLP V2 and he thinks it's too quiet for him (cabin noise).

So... I'm trying to put together a custom exhaust set-up for my 4G FWD. Right now I have a j-pipe, resonator and mid muffler delete and Magnaflow 11225's. Couple things I'm trying to change: the drone in the cabin is pretty loud, especially around 1-2k where I'm usually cruising, and the resonance is very bass heavy. I feel the actual exhaust note is a tad too bassy and could do with a slightly more aggressive midrange tone. The exhaust can be a little raspy up too, doesn't sound too bad honestly though.

What I'm thinking of doing is installing a dynomax resonator and possibly changing out the mufflers. I'm fairly sure the resonator will help out with the drone and some of the rasp, but I'm a little lost as to what I should do to change the tone. Any advice?

You think I need to change the mufflers too? I know the magnaflows tend to be a little bassy themselves, it was that way even with the mid muffler and res on.

If you find it to bassy or dronish you might wanna go back to stock mufflers and just swap everelseng esle out.

I have CT-E Axle back and Takeda SRI on a 2013 MT SH-AWD, will be adding RV6 PCDs and RV6 V2 JPIPE, right now i have stock mid pipes with stock resonators and want to keep that way. That being said, performance wise, are the stock resonators a big air restriction, would it be a bottle neck, i don't want to put straight pipe in there after adding the mods because i'm sure it will rasp like hell, so basically would there be a performance upgrade at this point by replacing stock resonators by dynomax that would be worth it considering my setup.

Thank you.

It might increase the exhaust flow a little but I don't think it's something you need to worry about unless you're wanting to mod quite a bit beyond j-pipe, intake, axle back, and pcd's.

Heh, funny enough Jake, I have a similar setup but with no J-Pipe, 2.5" piping, 2.5" to 2.25" y pipe out to the same Magnaflows. I've had this setup for about a year now and I honestly wanna go louder. Most likely going to get pressured into buying a set of PCDs soon, but I rather just go back to a muffler delete with a large res again. Gave the car an "exotic" sound.

Here's my current setup:

Annnnnd here's my old setup:

Mine is pretty loud at WOT. I decided not to change anything for now, I'm just leaving it with res and mid muffler delete and the magnaflows at the end. The rasp isn't too bad and I really don't want to risk getting rid of how the exhaust breaks up on deceleration. lol

Scratch my last comment.. After 3 months of having the car loud as hell I'm wanting to tune it down a bit, especially the ridiculous drone around 2k... Last week I got a 12" Dynomax res put in and it helped with the cabin noise a bit but that drone is still there. I've had people recommend both MBRP and Vibrant Ultra Quiet's...so, fellow A-ziner's, does anyone have experience with getting rid of low pitched drone?

Hey guys, I am interested in the ATLP 4" quad tip exhasut mufflers. Has anyone ever installed these without replacing the rest of the system? I am looking for a slightly aggressive sound that is not very loud, currently my TL has the stock exhaust. Here is a link to the mufflers from ATLP:

4" quad mufflers

I was thinking about going for a full custom system, but not sure I want that type of noise out of my daily driver. I apologize if this has been answered, after surfing the forums for a few days I was not able to come up with an answer for this. Thank you

Pearson4G - Do you have a FWD or AWD? And what numbers did you get with your dyno?

JakeF - That definitely sounds raspy. If I read your mods correctly, you have the HFPC's, Jpipe, Magnaflows and deleted stock resonator and mid-muffler with the 12" dynomax added. Is that correct? If so, we have the same setup except I haven't deleted either the mid muffler or resonator (thus no Dynomax either). I have no rasp and although everyone's perfect exhaust sound is subjective, I believe mine sounds pretty darn good. So maybe it's simply a case of the mid muffler and resonator delete. Since you've installed the dynomax res, maybe try adding the mid-muffler back in?
I know exhaust work isn't cheap though so it kind of sucks to go through the trial and error.

I have the same one but after set up it rubs against the heat shield.

i have the same catback system but after install and my best adjustments, it still rubs against the passenger side heat shield. Did you guys have that issue? Any fixes?

Any help will be awesome!

Thanks!

For those not looking for any significant noise increase, here is a clip of my car with the XLR8 V2 J-pipe (3rd cat delete) paired with the stock exhaust.

And here is a clip of the XLR8 V2 J-pipe plus full XLR8 cat-back system. Significant noise increase. It sounds so mean, I love it!!

I fought with the XLR8 kit for a while before deciding to just disassemble and "modify" the hanger brackets slightly, mid pipe on driver's side and the muffler hangers on the passenger side. This allowed me to clear the frame and align the muffler tips for a perfect exit on both sides. A few taps from a 4lb sledge hammer made easy work at reaching the correct angles.

One more from inside the car, windows were up, but I think the sunroof was vented. full XLR8 setup on stock pre-cats. I feel like I have become used to the low RPM slow acceleration drone, I just vent the rear windows and it doesn't bother me at all. And my wife hasn't complained about it yet, so there's that... haha.
