Let's get an Exhaust thread going.

I know there is a Wheel thread going for the 4G, so let's get one going for the aftermarket exhaust. Sounds clips would be great as well. There are a lot of different set ups out there and there are members on here that want to add an aftermarket exhaust. I know you can search youtube, but the videos are spread out and it's easier to asks members on here about their set ups.

Yeah, it is a bit exhausting searching Youtube. It would be nice to have one thread where we can hear whats out there and do some give and take...

Straight pipe kinda implies that he likely just removed all the inline resonators and even mufflers. If you look at the still image of the video, looks like they're gone.

he lists on the youtube video that there is a SRI on it as well, likely doesn't impact the sound all that much at idle revs but figured it should be considered as well

Only replaced the two rear mufflers for straights. Anything else exhaust is normal.

18 inch res > stock mid > straight out to 3.5inch quads.

Gonna be getting an HFC + JPipe installed in the next month or so. Gonna replace the mid with a 14inch red when it happens heh

Exhaust fwd versus awd

Has anyone installed a AWD cat back stock exhaust system onto a FWd?
What is the pipe size on AWD?
Size of pipe on a FWD?
Any AWD stock system for sale, I did look in black market
Thanks

I am looking to order Magnaflow mufflers for my 12 TL Advance. After watching many videos on youtube I am leaning towards the 11225 mufflers but I like the Quad pipe setup of the Magnaflow 12138. Is there a sound difference between Magnaflow 11225 and 12138?

Thanks for the help guys!

I'm running my setup on an automatic (I'm assuming that's what you meant)

I truly wish I had MT but I wasn't willing to wait the 2-3 months for additional 13 MTs to make it to the dealership, soooo I went with automatic.

That being said, I ride around in S mode all day everyday lol

Haha nice. Been thinking about exhaust but have never been a fan of automatics with exhaust so I'm on the fence.

I took a quick video with a go pro so everyone can get an idea of how the Magnaflows sound when driving and getting on it. I have only Magnaflow mufflers and drop in K&N filter.

Maybe, but where I live, you get pulled over easily if your car doesnt sound like a Corolla lol and from the vids on youtube, the J-pipe adds some more sound.

My previous car had a turbo-back exhaust 3", it was loud so I don't want to go back into "race car" status. I will try the cat-back and add J-pipe later if I want more.

Anyway with no tuning solutions, ie, flashpro, can't really benefit from these mods, its mostly for sound. A tune would completely change the car.

The J-Pipe does add some sound but most of the note is going to come from the exhaust. J-Pipe just makes it deeper and a tad bit louder. If the cops in your area are tough then they are going to give you a hard time regardless of whether or not you have a J-Pipe. But as you can see in the video I posted above, it's not a "ricey" exhaust. It sounds awesome and has a more mature note to it. It's also pretty subdued while cruising, it's only when you get on it that it opens up like that.

The car will benefit from the J-Pipe/exhaust regardless of what tuning you have. We dyno'd the V2 J-Pipe on a UA7 Type S and it made 19whp and 30wtq without a tune. Adding the J-Pipe will provide with you a noticeable gain in power.

Shit sounds mean. I know you mentioned custom exhaust. What's the details. Most of the echaust clips on here don't do justice but this video did.

You guys are tempting me to buy exhaust! I'm trying to hold off.

looks and sounds great, beat! that sure does sound aggressive.

I wish I had the chance to hear an XLR8 system in person as it sounds quite a bit different than my ATLP kit.

Are catback exhausts just not a thing anymore? It's surprising to me that there are only 2 companies that make an exhaust for the 4G TL. I just came from an 06 RL, a car that has virtually zero aftermarket support, and there were at least 3 companies that made a catback kit for it.

Simple, demand and supply. The amount of 4gs owners that is willing to install a exhaust system is pretty low. Most people will drop the car, install aftermarket wheels and call it a day.

Also most systems are over 1000$+, it's not something everyone would spend just to make more sound and a bit more HP. I come from the 8th gen honda civic world ( 2006-2011 ) and even with a much more "tunable" platform, there was only 2-3 common really good cat-back ( nvidia, full-race, skunk2 ) in the 450-700$ bracket.

Excelerate is having a hard time having a 4g to test fit a FWD version of their cat-back...
