Installing Magnaflows
I really like the look of the ATLP exhausts but not the price tag...and since my TL is FWD, I figure it's more of a noisemaker and aesthetic mod than a performance mod. So I picked up a pair of these:

and got these tips :
I want to make them staggered and shorter than they appear here:

How much would a muffler shop generally charge to do that?

Please post pics when complete.
When using the 35124 tips, I'd like to see what it looks like from a side profile. A great part about the ATLP tips is that it looks beefy out of the muffler to the tip.
I've been long considering this project, but using the longer 35126 tips.
I'm speaking from an AWD perspective here... The stock mufflers have offset inlets, so if using the Magnaflow muffler with center inlet, that means the muffler has to be pushed forward a little, and this means that the 35126 tips would be more prone to sticking out too far.

So I talked to a guy I know who owns a couple of shops and he said it'd be no problem...just some cutting and welding with a little bit of pipe adjustment at the worst. I'll most likely be putting em on after xmas...gotta make sure I can be shopping for other people this month before I scrooge up all my money in the car lol
I'm interested for the sound clip and pics as well. I had a 2006 Cummins 3500 and when I threw on the MBRP exhaust, our 5 year old kept asking me to pin it when we drove through tunnels. I loved that sound and enjoyed smoking the odd driver out at the same time. That is why I'm interested in the sound these make.....and then our daughter will ask me to pin it under bridges once again.

I've had the exhaust now for about 2 months. The car drives better as far as acceleration. I havent noticed any better gas mileage on the road due to the new mufflers. It does drone and it only gets louder while its breaking in. The drone around 1500-2500 is the worst and is enough to cause a headache. It's louder in the back seat, of course. My mom rode back there this past weekend and she complained how loud it was, but then again she's 59. The crank-up rumble is nice in the mornings and the acceleration note is nice too. You get used to the extra noise after awhile, but you will definately notice the noise. I've also noticed right when the vtech starts to kick in there's a slight hesitation, maybe around 3000ish RPM and then, of course, it kicks in.

On startup it sounds awesome...really deep and throaty, not at all like a ricer. There's a bit more noise than I expected when taking off or cruising at lower RPMs but I dig the tone overall. Once you get it to around 3.5k and up it quiets down a bit but still has a nice rasp to it. I really like the sound it makes as it winds down too...like the other guy who just did this same mod said, I'm definitely downshifting more

Thanks. First I went to my friend's auto shop in Buena Park. We got it up on the lift and he didn't want to mess with it because of the position of the muffler inlet vs the Y pipe and available space, plus he didn't really have the proper equipment to do the pipe fab work.
I went around to a few different places and ended up having it done at Orange County Muffler since they gave me the lowest quote. It was 300 out the door, which was a bit more than I wanted to spend but I was sold on the convenience factor since they're walking distance from my place.
Probably could've saved a bit if I had bought mufflers with offset inlets, but I'm happy with the results.
Sound clips coming soon

Do you have a link to how this looks and what it's actually called? did a quick google, but nothing but forum links pop'd up. Price/place to buy would be awesome.

Looks great man. I too have a FWD TL and wanted to put some Magnaflows on. I saw on another thread that the they went with the Magnaflow 11225 and I see that you went with the 12138's. Do you know what the difference between the two are and why did you go with the 12138"s? Were there a lot of mods that your shop had to do to put them on? Thanks.
