How to install ATLP exhaust

I looked around and can not find any DIY on how to install the ATLP exhaust. Does anyone have any suggestions where to find a DIY, or any pointers how to install it?

first question.. do you have the necessary equipment? 4 jackstands, a heavy duty jack, not the small autozone ones, do you have all the tools needed?

also you will literally need to jack your car up about a foot up in the air and put the whole car on jackstands.

guessing by you asking how to install exhaust.. you have no experience in this field.... to install it is the same way to take it off, unbolt it and remove it from hangers.. no real skill to remove it.. its all about the tools. the more tools you have for this job the easier it is. hangers to me is the issue.. and not the unbolting process..... also it is easier with 2 people

Spray wd-40 on the rubber hangers to make them slippery so the exhaust metal hangers will slip off easily.

Yes, I got the jack stands. I will need a better jack though. I did the TEIN SS install myself so am pretty decent with tools.

Having said that is there special tools required for the exhaust? Or will a good standard set of wrenches and sockets work out with some breaker bars.

I guess the biggest concern is the bolts, from what I hear they rust up pretty bad. Any trick for that?

Is the exhaust accessible or will I need to remove some cross braces?

PB Blaster - Jack the car up, spray on all the bolts you will have to remove. Re-apply every 30 minutes and repeat this 2-3 times before even trying to wrench any bolts off.

Applying heat with a torch may help the really tough bolts, or in my experience it will just cause you to shear them off. Have extra exhaust bolts ready to go in case that happens!

If you can install Tein SS then the exhaust will be a breaze. No special tools needed.

^^^ Agreed. 2 people will make the job easier. Those mufflers are heavy. Some wrenches and sockets, WD-40, anti-seize, 2 jack stands and a hydraulic jack (preferable a low profile one since you are on Tein SS) will do the trick. I assume they supply the gaskets as well. GL!

Thanks for all the hints and suggestions. I think the kit comes with 4 and 8 bolts/nuts, at least looking at it from the picture on the website i ordered from. Can I re-use the gasket between the J-Pipe and the new exhaust pipe? I got the J-Pipe installed 2.5 months ago and they used a new gasket on it with some liquid seal?

I will definitely check with my buddy to see if he can help me along. I would hate to ask my wife to help there would be way tooo many questions asked, like what is this, where did you get it, why did you get it and of course how much.

LOL at the wife comment. That should be okay then but personally I would buy a new one anyway just in case it gets ripped or tears in the removal process. Last thing you want is a leak from the exhaust and it will save you a trip!

It sounded very very good but also very loud. I ended up adding 2 resonators at a muffler shop few days later to make it more quiet. It helped a bit to reduce the loudness but I wish that it would have been a bit more quiet. Everyone from my friends says it sounds really good even with the resonators.

Also not sure what year you have but I have 2012 and had to ask muffler shop to do some mods in order for the tips to fit the cut out correctly. The tips were pretty much touching the upper part of the exhaust cut out. Scratched it up a bit and melted some paint. Also they were not centered at all.

On mine they fitted like this:

After the muffler shop fix (spaced more apart, lowered a bit, and pull them out a bit):

No way in HELL I would accept that from a $1200+ exhaust.

Melted paint!? Rubbing?! Had to re weld straight?!

ATLP's QC dude must be Carl off Slingblade.
