Best Performance Mod for the $$$$$

I'm still contemplating installing a J-pipe once my powertrain warranty is up as my first mod. I've read up on CAI, which do not appear to provide any improvement other than some additional noise, and am only looking at bolt on's at this point. Given the vast knowledge that you all have, what would you say is the best bang for the buck for a minor power boost?

Nismod, I'm of the opinion that CAI's are all growl. I agree with Heart-the J-Pipe is a great performance mod.

^^^

I agree but DIY might be a lot more than he bargained for and if he paid for installation it's not longer a bargain mod since pro's know its a POSto install.

btw there is not CAI.. its just a intake... a CAI goes under where it pulls cold air from a vent.. the Takeda/K&N intake is shortram

As I understand it, you can't tune these cars unless you buy a stand alone ECU. It makes me wonder how much value one can realize from power modifications. I can see making visual changes and suspension changes. But it appears to me that it would be easy to spend many hundreds of dollars for just a few horsepower since the tune can't be optimized. Did I miss something?

no tune = no point of buying performance parts.

i personally do not have any engine mods on my car besides an exhaust which i bought purely for aesthetics and sound. No point of modding a car when its limited to what i can only hold as is.

While I agree that I'm not getting optimal gains from my performance bolt on's my car is noticeably faster than a stock 5/6AT AWD TL; I've yet to test it vs a MT.

These literally just arrived 15 minutes ago. I still don't have the updated pics of these j-pipes but yes they are on the website.

The biggest gain for the money looks like it may be the Hondata K-pro. The after that, You'll notice larger gains from the mods you add I/h/e. What does the AZ family think about going that route? I guess we cant really know until the dyno numbers come out on paper what he K-pro can do on it's own to a stock TL. Oh wait, I'm telling you to do this modb4 knowing if you even have a MY07-08 TL.
