Base or SH-AWD?!?

In the hopes of stumbling upon a secret of my vehicle that I had not known at purchase time I want to get the right answer. And I really hope it doesn't come off as a stupid idiotic question that I should already know the answer to however I saw something on my vehicle that to me seems to be a sh AWD logo in my guages. I have a 2013 pearl white TL I picked up about 6 months to 8 months ago don't remember exactly. No badges indicate that it was sh AWD however I was looking at the gauges inside the car one day and noticed on the left hand side under the temperature gauge it said sh AWD. As in, there was a little area for the illumination of the sh-AWD to be turned on and off now I know that my title and everything to the car did not say anything about this or having this feature but I will say this the vehicle was the only one with any Houston Texas that was pearl white with black leather interior and also the only one that I saw for sale that had the had be a spec lip kit already installed Factory which is why I really ended up buying it in the first place LOL when I pulled up and saw that lift kit on there I didn't tell the salesman at the time but I had already bought in my head. Is this indicated I do actually have an all-wheel-drive or is this something that they include on all cluster gauges in that year? I will provide pictures shortly.

CAN ANYONE ANSWER THIS ? Thank you much!

Google your vin and it'll tell you your vehicles trim level.

is it a 3.7 or a 3.5L? 3.7 = SHAWD for sure. 3.5L = must do extra work to find out

- Flip through the MID to the SH-AWD meter.
- Jack it up and see if you have a differential
- Open your trunk and see if the AWD hump is there
- VIN check it
etc

I'm really confused how/why you would buy a car and not know what you were buying though?

Are you just messing with him? I don't know of a 3.5, SH-AWD, TL, do you?

You can always put your phone on the ground, center of the car, and drive slowly, phone recording - pick up the phone, play back, and if you see a driveshaft, plus rear differential, you have an AWD vehicle. Do not run over the phone, lol.

I believe all TL's got the same gauge cluster, I have an SH-AWD light on my cluster down where you find the oil light, check engine light etc. too but it doesn't light up since I have a FWD. Like the other poster mentioned just cycle through your MID and if you see this you have an SH-AWD model:

Hahaha..." This I will try .... AWD must I have" so I'm guessing the guage cluster means nothing ?

It's a place holder on the cluster for an SH-AWD error.

Why make two clusters when you can make one and disable it by software?

Thanks!

Well thanks for all the replies... I am going to check later today but I'm pretty sure its not.... Its all good tho. My 3g TL just hit 207k and still running strong but I'm not sure if I should run it to death or rebuild it little by little instead of buying another motor with way less miles? But that's a question for another post. Thanks again!

Yeah, you got a point! I thought it was a bit odd that he didn't know, as well. But, I kind of got worried, for a moment, that Acura made some SH-AWD's (4G) with the 3.5L - just a moment.

I suppose that nobody liked the idea of driving over their cellphone. When I first did it, I was amazed at the utility... I suppose you can see oil leaks, rust, body damage/repair, so on, and so forth.

Anyway, the world is saved, as the OP now knows what kind of 4G he has. :-D

Just look underneath and see if there is a rear differential.
