2013 TL SH-6at Vbox results

new member here
I Picked up a 13 Tl sh in place of my 08 TL DD

The current "fast car" is a 600+whp (soon 700+) mazdaspeed3 - not really streetable 1 seat fully gutted, runs on Q16

I must say the new 6speed auto is huge leaps beyond the 5speed.

We all know this is not a race car or a "fast car" but it can be quick. I hooked up the Vbox to see what she can do.

I've only managed to get 2 decent runs. I only have a drop in filter, TB coolant bypass and 800 miles on it.

5.79 0-60 1500 rpm power brake launch
14.0 @101 1/4 mile

6.05 0-60 - 1900rpm power brake launch - weak launch, as I was too slow off the brakes
14.2@99 1/4 mile

Overall when launched right the 6speed auto can move

I do hate that the ECU will not let you use apply throttle while even slightly on the brakes you are moving, two footed driver this will take some getting used to, launch control would do wonders for this powertrain, 3200 rpm launch and she would be a easy low 5 second 0-60.

how in the world do you get 600HP on mazda 3 without blowing the main bearing or throwing the rod. That is impressive.

on a built engine with a filled block, pinned crank and 40psi of boost

the oem motor took bend a rod north of 450whp, so I went big.

The last updates, bigger TB, full vband turbo setup and larger turbo should bring me around 700+ whp.

on the street it takes a decent roll 45+ on a ET streets to hook.

Anyway, it's a shame there are no software solutions for this platform, maybe one day.

Thanks for sharing - the 6spd auto is quick, especially in S using paddles. Did you have the VSC turned off (I'm sure you did, but just checking). Obviously I'm biased because I bought one, but the TL SH-AWD amazes me every time I'm behind the wheel. For such a heavy car (and I weigh 280 so its really heavy what it can do in terms of handling and acceleration are nothing short of superb, its too bad Acura really screwed up the aesthetics, otherwise this would be a top seller.

You didn't say what trim level you got, so I'm wondering if you're running on the 18 or 19" wheels - a good set of summer tires would probably knock a few more tenths off the timer

VSC was off.

Very impressive car for being 4000lbs, they got 90% of it perfect

I have a tech so I'm running the 18", I hate the stock mxm4's I plan on swapping them out with some Pilot super sports next month.

I plan on getting the IceBox ( when it comes out) and Jpipe, that should give it a nice bump.

The jpipe is on my list for Spring - sounds like its the best bang for your buck performance mod

I also rock the 18's - will probably replace the tires in a year or two, I only have 15K on them and just can't replace them when so new

When I bought the car I drove an Advance, and thought the 19's were a harsher ride - I love the look of a bigger wheel, but I think I'd have to invest in better suspension and a drop to be worth it

yeah the 19's were a little rough for me... too many potholes and crappy roads where I live.

hey,i got few questions.. since I haven't seen anybody run a vbox..
I have a 2010 RL with 5speed and its the biggest drawback on the car..
I fall behind Vtec on 3rd gear change.. it falls bellow 4800 and I have to wait few seconds to get to VTEC..
can you measure thease times?
0-200kmh (124mph)
and also 1000meters (3280ft)
I get normally 7.4 sec to 0-62mph (0-100kmh) best is 7sec and I get 15.2-15.4 or 15sec to quarter mile and around 27.4ssec to 1000m and best is 27sec 1000m and 26.9 to 124mph..
what I see as option on tuning my engine 3.7L is as PCD and J-pipe and maybe getting that VTEC lower by 200rpm somehow.. I see that our ECU is reflashable by default as I can see in Honda parts and I see that TL uses a newer Camshaft than my RL ( LEGEND) and I wonder if I use your Camshaft I will benefit ? I see on TL parts list you can choose one or the other camshaft (RL or TL) and this seems that they are interchangeable.. probably..
my biggest gain would probably be with sourcing a new 6sp auto tranny but seems that many Electronic items need to change too..i don't know if its just that..
I wonder why you would have the VSC off and what it does for launch?
