XM, Weather, and Traffic

Hey guys I have had my TL for about three months now, and I am no longer recieveing the free xm, weather, and traffic options. I want to get these options back, but how much do they cost? Any help is greatly appreciated!

The ultimate price you'll pay depends upon a couple of factors: your patience, and your persistence. Also .... be advised that while the XM audio is negotiable (see the sticky on this), the traffic ($49/year) and the weather (only available quarterly) do not appear to be negotiable at this time. It took me 5 different calls to 3 different numbers until I turned my trial period into a $77 subscription, but there was no budging on the traffic/weather options. Good luck.

+1. If you want a deal you'll need to wait a few months, they'll be bugging the crap out of you, and eventually you can name your price, albeit within reason.

Go to the 3G Forum and look at the $77/year XM deal Sticky near the top. It gives you all the info there to easily get that rate. I did it last month and it was very simple. In their case they screwed up and my traffic/weather is still working. Supposedly it's extra like what was posted above.

How long after the trial period did it get shut off? Mine has been a month since the trial period ended and it's still going. Cross my fingers!

Don't call the regular service number, they will not budge, go to the sticky for XM and look for that number. I called the regular support number and it looks like it is outsourced to somewhere in the Caribbean. Called the number in the sticky and I got someone in the states and what a difference. Didn't have to fight or anything.

Damn, I wish I read this thread before I renewed my subscription a couple weeks ago. My subscription ended on the last day of Dec and I renewed it the day after. I ended up paying the full price. Man, Im stupid. Im slapping myself as I type this. It was around $160 for the year! Wow, thats more than double what you guys are paying. And thats not including the Weather and Traffic!!!!!! WOW IM STUPID!!!!!

Is there anything I can do to get the $77/Year deal, or is it too late?

You can try calling back and canceling saying you recently lost your job and trying to cut back, blah, blah, blah.

You have nothing to lose.

Not a bad idea. But then wouldnt they think something is up when I cancel it and then renew it soon after? How long should I wait after I cancel it to subscribe again?

You're missing the point. As soon as you threaten to cancel, for whatever reason, they may transfer you to another department where they may offer you the $77/deal. I imagine they will refund you the difference but this is my guess only. It's a one phone call process. You don't have to "renew". There will be no interruption of service. Nothing is really canceled.

I thought about that option for my bro who got his like a month before, but once they got your money that it. This is what I got from the FAQ on XM's site:

Will I receive a partial refund if I cancel my subscription before it expires?

No. Cancellations do not take effect until the first day after your current subscription expires. For example, if your current subscription is paid through the 17th and you cancel your subscription on the 5th, your service will continue until the 17th and on the 18th your service will end.

Damn! Oh well, he can then pay $77 for his second year.

2010_TL, don't fret over the extra $$$, just enjoy your car and the music.
