Angry XM NavTraffic Problem

After calling XM at least 15 times over the past week (talking with customer service from Asia that could hardly speak English) I still am without the Nav Traffic information. They claim the signal was sucessfully sent to my radio but I still display "Activation is not complete" on my screen when I try to access the traffic incident information. I even talked with one of the Techs who assured me that everything was fixed. Now they say it must be the car and I should return to dealer to have it reset to accept the signal. I am getting the XM radion and the weather - just not the traffic. Everything was fine for the first three months (with the free trial) the problems were after they changed over to my account and they failed to include the Nav Traffic. Anyone else experience this aggrevation.

Ok so this morning after checking my account on line to make sure that the Nav Traffic was removed from my account (it was) as I do not want to pay for something I don't have, I start off for work only to find that it seems to be working. At least when I call for traffic incidents the screen comes up showing me a list of traffic issues. Maybe I have the service without cost..........We will see how long it lasts. I would call to tell them I think I have it now except I fear they would somehow disable it again.

you can find other old posts here about the same. I transfered my old account from my 3G to the new 4G - and they lost the traffic and weather - same has happened to a few others here. that customer service at XM just needs a little training. they try to tell you its the car at fault - yet it all worked b4 the account transfer.

At least learn English! Ok I went out at lunch time to find that it was not working. When I went back to my office I decided to give it one last try. I actually spoke with someone from West Virginia so I thought I may have a chance. He was not only helpful but was pleasant to talk with. He told me everything should be fine. Within 5 to 10 minutes of starting my car it worked.

My traffic, & weather wasn't even activated for my 3 month free trial. After speaking to someone, who was clueless, she referred me to another guy, who said he'd activate the t & w immediately. I was told to put on XM/1, for about 15 minutes, & all the info should download. We'll see, when I get home later; only good thing is that my online acoount now reflects the change. Here's hoping!

Does the XM streaming work from a computer for you?

No, apparently that now will cost you extra (about $4 or$5 per month) unlike before when it was included. The only time I used it was at work. Since Pandora is free (and better) I now use that at work.

It doesn't cost me anything extra from the computer, and I've been streaming since 2005. I just wish the quality would improve? I posted the notice about the computer extra that they tried to "plague" upon users, but it's not in effect. If your paying for it, call XM immediately to get it reversed.

Not worth the risk

You are correct with the quality of sound (even with the Bose speakers I have connected to the computer). I used to listen to XM only at work but now listen to Pandora. I am not being charged extra for XM access on the internet and I would be hesitant to call asking them for free access because I am sure the would screw it up some how. I am content to have both radios for $77/yr each and Nav Traffic and weather for $24 every quarter.
Cheers

Most people I talk to don't even have XM for music anymore. They're using Pandora and it's free.

I've been doing Pandora in the car too via my iPhone. It drops out a bit more than XM when I'm not by my WIFI system, but the quality is actually better than XM over the computer. XM said that the audio quality would improve March, IT DID NOT! It's still sounds like 8-bit crap!

If you like pandora, check out slacker. If you have a Crackberry or buy their player you can cache songs. It is my new love.

Right on. There's also iHeart radio which snags US radio stations live broadcasts.

Yankee - try a simple voice command to fix your XM traffic issue, it worked for me. "Display Traffic Speeds" "Display Traffic Incidents".

I was going nuts trying to figure out why my traffic wasn't showing, yet XM said I had it. So, I was reading through the voice commands and tried those two and BINGO.

Hope this helps!
