iPhone comes through with TL!

I thought I'd post something positive for a change. For those who have the 3G iPhone and tech package, check this out. I was down in the car fooling around and I realized that the Pandora and iheartradio applications play in the TL! Streaming radio beside XM is pretty sweet! There were two drop outs when driving around but it was only for 3 seconds. The quality was comparable to XM too!

So as you engage the iPhone to the USB adapter, and the iPod automatically starts to play, hit the home button, then bring up the Pandora icon. Also, as you listen to the iPod, you can also play your game applications with audio through the sound system. It's pretty cool!

You can also stream audio from non-iPhones as long as they support stereo bluetooth . . .for example the Samsung SCH Windows Mobile from Verizon.

Yes, another option there, but be warned the Bluetooth Audio does not sound very good, and most of us would be streaming phone audio which is already seriously compressed and has limitations as far as reproducing CD quality.

Pandora for Blackberry!!!

So I thought there was a thread about slacker radio and trying to play it through the stereo in the TL, but I can't find it, so if there is sorry for the new thread. Pandora is available for Blackberry!! I was thinking, I think there is a line in jack for audio in the center console next to the USB port, so theoretically you could connect the blackberry to the line in jack and have pandora in the car. I may run to Best Buy tonight to buy the wire and see...

Thanks! I thought there was a thread out there somewhere. So I went and bought a line in cable ($3.99 or 14.99, just depends on the brand Best Buy has) and it works....perfectly. I have a itouch, mainly cause I wanted an ipod, but couldn't part with the blackberry for a iphone. Anyway, I have the itouch hooked up through the USB cable and pandora on my blackberry hooked up through the line in cable and it lets you switch between the two! You just have to hit the HDD/AUX button on the console. It delays a little when switching from the itouch to pandora, but not much. Pandora didn't skip at all, but I only listened to 3 songs since Best Buy is only 3 stoplights away. All the other phone functionality works too. It quiets Pandora when you have an incomming call or if you're calling out. The only thing I noticed was when calling out the loud ringing nose isn't there, but you can hear when the other person picks up.

As for bandwith, yeah, I'm sure it takes up a lot, but I have unlimited data

I've been successfully using my blackberry bold with the bluetooth audio input to stream pandora to the audio system. If pandora is playing when I enter the vehicle, the audio connection sometimes takes ~10 seconds or so to establish the connection.

Audio quality is reasonable - I do find that I have to turn up the audio on the phone to the max and then also turn up the audio on the TL sound system. I like it a lot better than XM...

The phone "unlimited" data plans are typically 5GB / month. After about a week of pandora in the TL (~1-1.5 hrs / day) shows that my data usage hasn't jumped off the charts. I don't see hitting 5GB / month anytime soon.

When a phone call comes in, pandora pauses and resumes when the call ends.

Actually, BT streaming isnt all that bad quality wise...the first beta of Iphone 3.0 was pretty bad for BT streaming, hiccupy and jumpy, but beta 3 is pretty smooth, even youtube app will stream via BT (two clicks on iphone, one on TL and you're good to go..) I guess BT streaming all but useless for the iphone with tech package since we have ipod jacks :/ . Overall I was impressed with the TL's ability to handle all the different audio sources we can throw at it

Absolutely RB09, this was the selling point for me. I'm a tech junkie and no other car out there, at this price, handles my need better than the TL Tech package. The media integration was very well thought out, especially iPhone users. REGARDING THE PLAYING OF AUDIO ONLY OF COURSE. There are other issues (HFL!) that kinda set back the TL as we've stated in other threads.
