I have a 2009 Tech, and I have Infinity components that replace the OEM speakers in the front door and a-pillars. I am powering them with an aftermarket amp opposesed to the factory amp, and I still have voice command and center speaker functionality.

sipoint6 how did you connect the amp to the system. What did you use for the signal wires? Do you have the ELS sytems?

sympley,

My TL came with the ELS system. The aftermarket setup I have is a Clarion EQS746 equalizer and an Alpine PDX-V9 amp. The signal goes into the equalizer first, and then it feeds into the Alpine amp. Both items only take RCA inputs. Since the factory amp (located in the trunk, specifically in the passenger-side quarter panel area) only has speaker wire outputs and not RCA outputs, I had to convert it. Instead of using a line converter, I decided to tap into the speaker wire that comes out of the factory amp and convert it to RCAs using JL Audio XD-CLRAIC2-SW converters. The photo below is one of the adapters I used, and I added the red insulated wire connectors:

The Clarion EQ only requires one set of RCAs (for a total of 2) as an input, and it outputs it into 4 channels to go into an amp. The EQ also has the ability to fade from front to rear.

Because I decided to install the EQ in the glove box, I tapped into the factory tweeters in the a-pillars instead of tapping into the factory amp in the trunk and running another set of wires down the side of the TL. I added some length of wire to the tapped connection, terminated it to the JL audio wire adapter, and then plugged the RCA into the back of the EQ. I tapped into both the left and right factory tweeters in the a-pillars to get my inputs to the EQ. I then ran 4 RCA cables from the EQ output to the Alpine amp input:
