Video input through camera?

Anybody tap into the video input of the reverse camera? I would imagine it would be as easy as finding the wire that gets energized by putting the car in reverse and then intercepting the video coming from the camera.

I've gotta ask... why do you want to record the rear camera?

Everything is on a CAN bus so it's probably more complicated than "energizing a wire". Probably sends a "reverse mode" data packet over a bus that gets picked up by some controller in the trunk that turns on backup lights, activates camera.

Oh, man. Why do they have to make things so complicated. What happened to 12 volts, that wasn't good enough? lol!

There has to be an easy way to do it though.

And to the above posters, what I'm saying is trick the car into thinking it is in reverse and the video of the camera comes up. Instead of looking at the rear camera, you could intercept this video feed and send your own signal from a dvd player or portable device, etc.

Hah it's a necessity with all the electronics in modern cars. If they directly wired everything you'd have like, thousands of miles of cabling and wiring harnesses the size of tree trunks haha.
