USB Split
USB Split
Has anyone tried splitting the USB port in order to connect multiple devices? If so, does the car pick up all devices? I'm thinking of doing that so that I can connect my iPod and have an iPhone charging or a flash drive.
Interesting, I'm curious myself if that can be split? USB is rather flimsy with power, I doubt if the split worked, you could use it to power something substantial. Please report back if you beat me to it.
The system is designed to handle one USB path/device; ie. If you plug in your ipod and a flash drive, then push the HDD/AUX button and it tries to activate USB, it wouldn't know what device to activate.. Thus giving you that error (which is kind of entertaining, please dont plug this device in again........ever!)
What devices were you trying to hook up?

I think the easiest solution for one play one charge would be the DC to USB adapter for the charging item, and then regular usb for the playing....and if you're charging the iphone, you can still play via stereo BT and have the ipod play through the dock connector. I've been contemplating the same thing for a while, just never picked up the USB/DC charger. A usb hub would have been nice though
Turn off the bluetooth and see if you still have problems connecting. I have no issues whatsoever when I turn off the bluetooth on the iPhone 3GS, otherwise I have to reconnect the data pin for the iPhone, then it recognizes the iPhone. It all started after the 3.0 OS update. So much for backwards compatibility huh?
Oops, I just realized you said iPod "touch". I've never used one before, and the Apple website doesn't show bluetooth on the "touch"? Maybe turn off the WIFI then try it?

I would think it would be possible to make a USB connector that would accept two or three devices but have a physical switch to change between them. Just a few Radio Shack parts and wire the switch out to a convenient place and then you'd just have to flip the switch to 'engage' the desired device.
Pretty sure it won't work with Acuralink as it requires to have tethering, which AT&T has not opened up to iPhones.
