USB file and directory layout
USB file and directory layout
I've tried searching for an answer to this but didn't come up with anything..
I have a 16GB USB stick. I laid out the structure with directories inside directories, but using the car interface, it shows all the directories at once. For example:
A
-->B
--->song1
-->C
--->song2
D
-->E
--->song3
-->F
--->song4
I would like to see just A and D first. Upon selecting A, then see directories B and C. But I see A, B,C, D, E, and F all at once.
Is there a setting I'm missing?
Thanks...

Thanks for the response. But that's akin to saying to consume less gas, don't drive.
So having high level directories like "Classical", "Rock", and "Dance", and within those directories the name of the band or composer, and the songs within those, is something that isn't possible using a USB stick (without having all directories show up at once)?

I happened to be at the dealership yesterday getting a minor repair, and I told my salesman (who has sold our family 4 TL's in the last 5 years) "The only thing that bothers me about my car is the inane ipod interface. But I hate it badly enough that I may not get another one." He pointed out that they now can use voice command to search, and I said "Yes, and that's an upgrade they could push down to the 2010 models. The hardware and capacity is already there." He observed that it may be a good reason to get a new TL...and I laughed and said it may be a good reason to look at other manufacturers.
I bought a high end vehicle because these things matter to me. My friend's Ford blows our technology out of the water. Next time I may just get an Accord and do an aftermarket audio/nav system.

I just uploaded wallpaper from this site + one from my list of pictures after creating a folder on the drive. The HDD only saw the one picture even though they were all .jpeg format. I then removed the folder on the USB, and it recognized all of the wallpapers.
Does not help your cause at all but perhaps confirms that the HDD does not like folders.
On another note, I'm wondering why the music on the USB is showing-up faded on the screen but will not play it, you cannot select it, and does not start recording to the HDD.
