Hey everyone, picked up a '13 TL yesterday and tried to charge my Nexus 5 phone to the USB outlet but the HU labeled the phone as a bad device. I could care less about using my phone as a mp3 player but I would like for it to charge at least. Anyone have any similar problems/fixes?

Does it still charge the phone nonetheless? had the Same thing happen in my Parent's Caddy CTS when i plug in my iphone. it's just the car doesnt accept your device to play music thru the car but it still charges my phone.

 

Doesn't charge at all. I guess I have to go buy a car charger but it bugs me that the HU doesn't accept my phone at all.

 

Stopped by the dealership today to have it looked at and it seems that even the service agents phone could not sync. They are saying its the USB wire that is the issue. Just thought to give an update for those that may run into the same issue.

 

 

My phone works fine, but the built-in USB charges VEEEERY SLOOOOWLY. It's enough to keep the phone charged, but I've actually seen the battery drain if I'm using GPS while listening to music.

I got one of those cheap 2A 12v charger and it's much faster/better when I just want to charge the phone.

 

I've never tired to charge mine with the USB. I thought the USB was only for media. I use a flash drive will all my music and a separate charger.

 

Pretty sure the USB for music is 500mA while most typical fast chargers are 2.4A. You won't get any good charging out of that port at all.
