Time for New Cell Phone - 2010 TL

It is time for a new cell phone. I am seriously looking at the Droid Pro or Droid 2 Global (yes, I am sticking with Verizon). Is anyone aware of any issues with regarding the use of the hands free link (Bluetooth)? Acura/Honda does not have these phones posted on the handfreelink.com site.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

I bought a new phone and mine works PERFECT, no issues, it is a pantech link. I am not big into having a "nice" phone.

I have the original Motorola Droid on Verizon. I would assume it is similar to the Droid 2. I've not had any issues at all with the hands free link in my '11. Well, I take that back. I have never been able to connect to the AcuraLink server. As an aside, has anyone been able to connect to AcuraLink with their cell phone on the Verizon network?

No issues with either of those phones. Have tested both with a TL, and ZDX.

you need "tethering" to connect to the Acuralink server, right?

You just need a cell phone w/ a data plan capable of data over BT.... most Droids do this already, and with unlimited data from Sprint, and VZW you shouldn't have anything to worry about.

Verizon has a great set of smartphones. Everything from the iPhone to Android. Play with all the phones before making a decision. Both versions of Android are nice. You'll get a mix of Froyo and Gingerbread devices. The iPhone is another great phone as well. What else do you want out of a phone? features? etc...

I would much rather have a LTE capable phone then the last generation iPhone... I understand the following behind the Apple products - but what I don't understand is when there is a superior product offering on the table, there are a bunch of people who still prefer the Apple products.

If I'm dropping 200-300 on a subsidized smart phone - it will never be an Apple based product

Droid 1 Connection

I just took delivery of my 2009 TL SH-AWD and I checked the Acura site http://www.acura.com/handsfreelink.aspx to see if the Droid 1 was on their list of being compatable and I don't see it making the list.....and yet some of you say you have it working.

I was able to get it connected via blue tooth and the Hands Free system imported my address book without any problem....but I can't initiate any inbound our outbound calls using the TL blue tooth system through my Droid 1. I can play Pandora through the radio.....just no call connectivity. Any ideas or is it time for a Droid 2?

Thanks in advance for any help you Droid 1 users can throw my way

I have a Droid 1 and it works fine with my 2011 TL Tech. The only part that does not work is connecting to Acura Link. I was able to transfer all of my phone book, make and receive calls, all my music plays via bluetooth and I'm able to listen to Pandora. I've had the car since October, and my Droid 1 has worked without fail during that time. Regarding the Acura Link, I've noticed that when I try to connect, the bluetooth turns off and on rapidly. My phone was set up by the salesman at the dealership when I took delivery and it seemed pretty straight forward.

Droid 1 Connection Established - Phone Function Now Works

Linmk2 , Your post motivated me to try to get the connection again. On my Droid 1 I'm on Firmware 2.2.1, For the blue tooth connection to the TL....I'm seeing HandsFreeLink TM and under options (visible when you hold down on the device name) I've got Phone and Media both checked off. I WAS ABLE TO GET PHONE CONNECTION after I changed the Phone blue tooth setting options to Pass-Key Fixed and it then worked Thanks for motivating Me

Your welcome! I know my Droid 1 works fine, so I saw no reason yours should not. However, as I pointed out, do not expect the phone to connect to AcuraLink. I've yet to get that to work.
