Spam on my navigation from Acura

Since couple of weeks, every morning when I start 2012 TL, the navigation screen has a spam message from Acura. How do I stop that?

I am not sure I understand what you are asking....can you expand a little more so we can help? Are you referring to the "safety feature" that we all have to acknowledge every time we start our car? This is not new and should have seen like that from day 1....

The OP is referring to the messages Acura is sending out to everyone with navi regarding "features" and "safety".

Acura has previously announced this would happen.

Thanks for your message....I have the 2012 Navi model (tech) but haven't driven my car recently so I wasn't aware of such message. Does this apply to US model or CDN model too?

Not sure. US models, for sure, as I have been receiving messages this past week.

Why are they sending these messages? I thought only I was receiving them but nonetheless they're annoying and so stupid... These messages are teaching basics of the tech features which I'm sure everyone knows already.

I have to smile. Spam is when you get email or other types of messages you didn't opt-in for. Buying a car is a pretty big opt-in imo.

IIRC, I think there was even a feature on Lexuses where you can get newsletters for oil changes... My friend's '12 RX Hybrid had such a feature, so does Acuras have that?

Did they tell us how one can opt out of this? This is completely stupid and pointless and all it does is just annoy the owners. Are they going to provide the updates so that this feature can be used to read my text message from the phone?

Unfortunately, no. There is no way to opt out. It's not going to last forever. We just have to endure it.

I click the message, and delete it. Once/day.

On my C7 Stingray, there is no "OK" button. Come on Acura.......

This must be for TLs only. I've received no such message on my TSX.

While I see where you're coming from, I think spam is an apt term. I've had my 12 SH Tech for a year now, and I've conditioned myself to know that the message indicator is something that deserves my attention...the times it's been on we're issues that needed resolution. I've never had drivel show up onscreen before.

To start my car up now and to see it every time I do, then get worried, only to see messages like "Pair a phone for enhanced voice control", "Climate Control Tutorial" or some other such obvious nonsense is more than aggravating. I wonder how many owners will miss an actual important message because they recondition themselves to ignore the alert.

Seems to me I was able to turn this off...

Info -> Setup(Other) -> Acuralink -> New Message Notification

Could be wrong (probably)... I'm away from the car to check.
