Well I bought my TL Acura CPO back in November 2009 and I did have free XM radio for the first 3 months and it was disconnected after that. During those first 3 months I never listened to it because I prefered my CD's.

I listened to some XM radio when I drove some loaner TSX's and I loved them! I don't think I would ever use CD's or my iPod.

Very glad to find this thread.

http://www.siriusxm.com/ourmostpopularpackages-xm

So do all of you have the XM Everything Plus the BOS package? Is there any other packages available rather than those 3?

I really don't care about any other channels than music so I may bring that up first and see where it leads to. If it doesn't work, I will try the script.

Has anyone been able to strike a deal that included weather and traffic? I don't really need the weather, but here in Houston the real time traffic could be helpful at times. Just seems like they want a lot for it.

I have 2 cars with this deal, but no additional package discount was available. Still 2 subscriptions for $77 each (total including RF) was better than what we were paying before.

Traffic only was quoted to me for $120 per year. I answered "you guys are crazy, anyone with an iPhone can get this for free"

$120 seems like a lot but that is roughly 3 cent a day, 10$ a month.. not bad, really. I'd rather have it on my screen that trying to read the iPhone.. if I still had one of those things, that is...

That's fine, if it works for you. I figure the weather I can get on the radio, and the traffic on the iPhone (probably not moving, so safe to look at phone). Also, if there is traffic, I can always use the Nav to plot an alternate route.

Also, I think your math is off Stew4HD, unless I am losing it, $120 works out to .33 cents a day, not .03.

oops. damn decimal point!

As for the traffic thing.. No one is forcing you to sign up for it. It's a decent thing to have from what I have been told.. ot be warned ahead of time.. but anyway.. whatevers.

I called up to activated the XM on a used TL i just bought. I asked how much it would be for a year of radio+traffic and she said $203, or about $150 without traffic. I said "i have a flier for a renewal that says $77, could i use that?" She said yes, ended up getting radio+traffic for $133.20.

Thanks everyone!

Has anyone gotten the 5 for $20 recently??? I just received an email for 6 for $30? Wondering if this has replaced the 5 for $20.

I had tried renewing my XM for the 5 for $19.99 again and the rep told me they no longer had that offer so I told them to cancel it.

Today I received a call from XM with the same offer 5 for $19.99. I took them up on their offer.

Sorry if this isn't the right place to ask this. I did a search and didn't find much that might answer my question.

The other day I was driving and hit the XM button on my 06 TL by accident. I thought nothing of it and went about my business. Last week I got a letter in the mail, telling me my 3 month XM trial period had started. I read through all the paperwork on it, which leads me to some questions.

I don't want this service. I am not using it. I drive my car 20 miles a week, max. Is XM going to bill me after the 90 days runs out? Has anyone had previous experience with this? Of course they don't have any cc info from me or anything, but I found it strange that they would send me a startup letter in the first place...

Thanks.

You're fine. Once the 3 month trial nears its end, you'll be bombarded with reminders to sign up. They even called me on the phone twice. They will not bill you after the trial is up unless you sign up for further service.

So enjoy your free 3 months.

I'm completely new to this XM thing. I just bought an 06 MDX Touring with XM. I have no idea if the first owner was a subscriber. When I hit the XM button, all I can get is channel 1, with a promo loop. I can't get to channel 0 to get the radio's code number.

A free trial has been mentioned here, but the only one I find on the XM website is only 7 days long. Is there a way to get a longer trial period with a used car? I'm heading out on a 2-week road trip, and I'd like to try XM and decide when I get back if I want to sign up.

$77 deal worked for me

Took less then 10 minutes. Told the rep about the $77 deal and no questions asked. Total came out to $85.32 (XM only).

Still Works!!

I have two radios on my account (TLs and MDX) and was able renew both for $84.35 each on Friday. After talking with Angel and telling him I didn't want to auto-renew on Tuesday and wanted to cancel, was put on hold to talk with another agent with authority to cancel my account. Ted came on and said he could continue for another year as the same rate. He tried to get me to sign up for six months at $45, but said I would prefer to go for the yearly rate. I fully knew $45 for six months was more expensive, but can only assume some folks go for this.
Anyway it still works and I think this is about the sixth time for me.

So this guy at work overheard me talking about my experience with trying to renew my XM subscription after my free trial ended the other day. I didn't like how the convo went with the CSR at XM was going so I just hung up after she said I would be charged a reactivation fee. Well the guy at work told me that I could get XM for $77 bucks. Sure enough I came on here and found this thread. Thank you Expidtor for posting the info..you saved me a shit ton of money! No questions asked...$77 bucks, plus tax, plus $8 royalty fee.

Just did this the other day. Didn't use exact script just told the girl on the phone that a friend told me about a $77 deal and it worked, she said she would honor that since that was what I was quoted. I probably could've said $50 and she would've honored that though. Either way I'm happy. This was my first time too since I just bought the car.

Angry Warning!!

I just got an email from XM Radio saying they needed to talk to me about my account. I've been expecting my XM signal to be shut off as it has been more than a year since I renewed last and told them NOT to automatically renew and charge my credit card. They invoice me last time and I paid with a check and the $2 invoice fee.

After I called, they told me that my service had rolled over in February at the THEN HIGH RATE of $220 year because I did not call to cancel and that I owed them $55 for the first quarter. I told them to cancel all my services immediately (I have two) and they said I still owed them $55 and if I didn't pay it, they would turn it over to collections. THIS IS A NEW RIP-OFF policy that you need to be aware of. ALWAYS CALL AND CANCEL before your subscription renews automatically or they will burn you.

This beeyotch was perfectly willing to give me the $77 deal starting TODAY and would credit me the unused time from the quarterly payment of $55 but refused to budge on the charge from Feb until now.

As we, the customers adapt, they adapt accordingly. They are a moving target.

But, bottom line: They will ALWAYS roll you over at the HIGHEST rate going automatically. BUT, if you call and negotiate on or before that date, they will give you a choice of deals including the $77. But you still have to talk to the "Cancellation Department" as they are the retention specialists. Some are easier than others. I hope you don't get the one I got. If I wasn't a mod, I would be tempted to use the "c" word.

Trial on my 2010 Tech expired Thursday. I called and asked if I could get the 5 months for $20 plan we have on our 09 Odyssey. CSR said they couldn't do same promotion on 2 vehicles. I told him "yes you can" and his supervisor confirmed it. Final cost is $25 with tax and invoice fee.

I screwed up

I had gotten the 23$ deal last November for 5 months (including internet)and I forgot to call last week and tell them not to auto renew. I called a day late and they had auto renewed for 3 months at 35$. The 23$ for 5 months that included the internet was no longer available. I said no thanks and asked to cancel it completely.
She then said they had a 6 month deal, including internet, for $48.24.
I took it but I am sorry now. I will never miss the renewal date again.

XM CSR,what a joke. I've renewed for the 5 for $20 for the past 15 months after taking advantage of the $77 for two years. I had a reminder in early April to call before it auto-renewed. I called and the CSR told me that I could get the 5 for 20 again, but to call back in 2 weeks because if they renewed that day I would be paying twice for the same 2 weeks when my subscription ended. Fair enough. Unfortunately, XM beat me to the punch. Before I could call back they tried to charge my credit card. FORTUNATELY, my card had expired and they didn't have my new one! UNFORTUNATELY they canceled my service... No notification, no call, no email, nothing. I have called TWICE (main XM CSR and the retention center) already and tried to renew with the 5 for 20 and they told me it ended in Feb. They did offer me the $77 for a year, for one radio... I am so freakin pissed that I'm doing without XM for now.... Even if they contact me with the 5 for 20 offer for both radios I may tell them to kiss my @$$. I've wasted too much time on the phone with XM CSR already. It's radio, CD, and Ipod for me!

Wow, thanks Azine. This is the seventh year in a row that I have been successful in receiving this promo rate. I got $77.00 + Royalty Fee for a total of $85.32 including tax.

The rep referred to the deal as the '12 month half price offer'. My first comment was that I wanted my current subscription to expire due to expense. He placed me on hold then offered the deal without being prompted. In the end he even waived the $2.00 billing fee. Total call took 16 minutes without drama or threats.

OK - 3 month trial was coming to an and with the next 3 weeks so I made my call to the 1-866-408-2096 number on the free trial expiration notice letter and after I gave my radio ID#, I asked to confirm that they were not going to charge my credit card (of course I knew they would not). The CSR said they would not. I then said OK, and I was not going to subscribe since it was something I couldn't justify the cost for. She confirmed my address and email and I told her to let me know if any deals or promos came up and she said OK and the call was ended.

A few hours later, I called the 800-347-0600 number and CSR Johnathan came on the line (from San Antonio, TX). I gave him my radio ID#, and then told him I called earlier to confirm no auto charge was in place and I was glad to learn that there wasn't. I told him that I forgot to tell the CSR earlier that I would be willing to subscribe if I could get the $77/year deal. He then said "I think we can do that for you". He confirmed that he could in less than 30 seconds.

He tried to set up auto re-billing and asked to confirm that I authorized that and I responded "No sir, I'd prefer to only bill 1 year now". He then billed me out for $91.43 including taxes & royalty fees (excluding weather/traffic). We'll see if it works again in 12 months. Thanks Acurazine

Just called XM for the $77 a year deal and they said yes, no problem at all (800-682-4114).
My 2 month free sub in my 2007 certified pre-owned Acura TL just expired yesterday and I wanted to re-up.

Thanks very much for the script as it worked perfectly. It came to about $85 with taxes.

Just went out to the car and the radio has been updated tonight.

Thanks again!

Not a renewal post but I just got an email that XM is changing their channel lineup as of May 4th. Most of the channels I listen to are getting new numbers so I'll have to reprogram. Didn't want anyone to be caught unawares.

Has anyone tried to get the $77/year or better rate when adding a second radio?

I've been on the $77/year plan for several years now (of course, I had to call every year threatening to cancel)... but recently, I just got a second vehicle with XM and when I called them to try to get the $77 plan on the new car, they simply said they can't do that and actually let me hang up and said good bye.

Has anyone else added a second year that can give me some tips on how to get this added at the special rate?

Thanks!

I called with this whole "planned" conversation the other day...said "I'd like to cancel my auto renewal" expecting them to give me a hard time or offer me something. Nope, the girl just said "ok, it's done" and that was it.

Wasn't prepared for that but I honestly don't care much. I miss my ipod/pandora anyway. Which acts funny when the XM is piggybacked onto it.

I'm wondering if they changed company policy since they unified the XM and Sirius channels on Wednesday. Might just be the final steps of their merger.

Hopefully you've found that you didn't have to reprograme anything, unless you wanted to. Wednesday morning, all of my stations were still in the pre-sets. The only thing that chanaged was the channel number. I, like you, thought the channel numbers were the basis for the presets. Very happy to find it is the channel name. Same thing in my 'vette.
