Question about entering address

Hello,

I recently drive a 2009 TL tech. I wanted to know if there is a better way to enter address with voice recognition.

Currently I have to separately speak each letter in street. For example , If I want to say King street, I have to say "K", "I", "N" , "G" . I cannot just say "King". This is very annoying.

I saw some videos where people are just able to say the name and the voice system works.

Is this a thing that was introduced in later models? Or is this some setting I am able to change?

I should note I am in Canada and its a Canadian car.

Thank you for your help.

There is a voice command, I think it's something along the lines of "Chane to Name" and it will change to street name input. It actually says what to say in a blue box on the upper right corner of the screen when you hit the voice button. You have to do it every single time and it is pretty bad about getting the correct street names. I am not too impressed with the voice recognition and pretty much never use it. I also almost never use the GPS, it's not very good at planning an efficient route. But then again, I wanted the other tech features, and didn't care about the GPS. I will so it is pretty nice to have a map right there.

Plug in the postal/zip code first. Makes the system find street faster. i.e. ct or court.

Mine doesn't have a zip option, its an 09. Or if it does, I can't find it.

They made tons of software updates to post '10 models. I have a '12 and I can enter streets phonetically... Didn't do any update to the nav.

@emanon256 : Thanks for the suggestions, I tried it but it still asks me to enter letter by letter.

@Blaze: Yes, thanks, I do that and its quite nice. Mine is a 09 and I have that option.
