Please help, how to....
Please help, how to....
Does anyone know what is involved and how to remove I assume the back seats carefully, so I can investigate the rear sub? I had it padded with that sound deadening material, but still hear it in the center and passenger side back, pisses me off so bad! I didn't hear it for two days, now it's back! I can't find a "how to" on here on the 2009 and 2010 TL, I am not good on removing parts and interior, any suggestions or leads, I REALLY appreciate it!!!!
If it's like the 3G, there will be a bolt on each side of the seats, between the back and bottom seats, near the doors. You will have to push down on the botom seat, in the gap, where it meets the upper seat.
And then the fun ones are through the flap for the head rests. You don't take those all the way out. You have to do those blind, feel around in there for the bolt head. I think it was a 10mm bolt, use an extension that holds the socket tight or you might lose it before you get the bolts loose. It can be tricky, use your best relaxation techniques for these bolts... cussing them doesn't help.. much
The upper back seat hangs on these 2 bolts.
After you have the 2 lower bolts out and the upper 2 are fairly loose, the back section just slides up, off the 2 upper bolts. Be careful and do it slowly. It helps if you have a helper to remove the seat form the car so you don't scratch anything.
Then, you have to remove the c-pillar panels (the fabric covered pieces between the roof/healiner and rear deck). In the 3G, you have to CAREFULLY pop out the square plastic buttons that are for the rear air bags. DO NOT remove the button, just pull it about halfway out. Then carefully but forceully pop the entire c-pillar cover piece out. Repeat for other side.
Now the rear deck cover can be removed. The cure for the rattle is adding more foam around the area where the deck cover comes down around the speakers. I'd add more around the rear spealers too, just to be safe. I good, heavy duty weather stripping should do the trick.
I would expect there to be even more detailed into here on the site that you can find by searching. I just felt like typing it out.. LOL. I hope this helps
