Outside temp inaccurate

Had my first long drive today and loved my new TL. Noticed however that the outside temperature displayed in the cluster was off by 8 to 10 degrees. Is there a way to re calibrate? I see there is a way to change it by a few degrees. Is this going to require a trip to my dealer?

Thanks!

Rich

You can change it plus or minus 5 degrees. Keep in mind, that the tempt is only accurate at driving speed. If you stop and cut the engine off, the tempt gauge will not change until you drive altleast 3 miles without stopping.

Rich,

If your car has been in a garage, it will take the thermometer time to calibrate.

Seems odd to me... Yesterday I was driving for over 50 miles and towards the end of my trip my temp was about 8 degrees higher than reported by local weather. This morning it was spot on my entire drive to work. Guess I have to determine what factors affect it.

Thanks for the replies and info.

One big factor that will affect its reading is if your car is sitting on a hot surface it will pick up the surface heat which will make it read higher until you have driven it a while.
BTW, congrats on your purchase and welcome to the forum!

^ Pavement tends to be hotter than ambient temp

do not rely on local weather report. you can have different temperature in the same neighborhood.

I was checking the temp after driving for over an hour. Hopefully by then it would have normalized.
