New Sub & Amp Install
I’ve got an American Bass XFL 12 that I’m powering with an Audiopipe APMI-1500W amp. I’ve done a bit of research on system installs in our cars (2009 Tech). I have a line out converter and I’m curious if it’s really as easy as just getting a high level connection from the existing sub to connect to the converter and then just disconnecting the stock sub. If that is the case, then would I leave the stock amplifier? Because I want to keep the functionality of the stock system and not have to risk audio quality just for bass. Thanks in advance for replies.

Yes that's exactly what you can do. Leave the stock amp so you can control everything with the OEM radio including subwoofer control. I'm a fan of the LC2i because of it's bass restoration feature but that's up to you .

I would just tap of your Audiopipe amp for 12V, ground, and remote. You don't need to mess with the stock amp at all. If you go with an Audio Control LC2i, it has GTO signal sensing, which turns the unit on when it detects an audio signal, so you don't even need a remote wire. You still have the option to use one though. Your setup will be very straightforward. Power, ground, and remote to amp and LC2i, disconnect wires from factory sub and use an the audio input to your LC2i, then connect your sub to your Audiopipe amp. Super simple.
Just to be certain, you do understand you will need to run a large gauge power wire from your battery to your aftermarket amp, correct? You asked about getting 12V, ground, and remote from your factory amp, which is why I'm asking. You definitely do not want to do that.
Also, you are going to soon realize that the factory speakers are not adequate. Your aftermarket sub will drown out the mids and highs. I would budget for a second amp and some new component speakers in the near future. Don't bother with the rear speakers. Just replace the front doors and tweets.
