I purchased an update disc off eBay. When trying to update the navigation, I need a password. I understand this is tied to your VIN. I read others updating from discs bought from eBay.

I must be missing the info on how to use the disc without the password from Acura. I can't afford $149.

I hope someone has successfully done this. I have a road trip across the US in a few days.

Unless someone has hacked the system you're SOL. The password is unique for each navi unit serial number and update version. It is generated at time of purchase. Essentially when you purchase an update from Acura you're paying for the password to load, not the DVD. This is very common in high-end software. The update is now on sale for $99.

 

Thanks. I went with ebay as I saw many posts here about people getting theirs from ebay and installing without an issue. I guess this is no longer an option.

I'm not seeing the $99 price. They only list the full $149. I'll just use my free Waze app and hope I do not become lost in an area without cell service.

$149 is way overpriced as the competition is far less expensive.
