Cool Navigation problems

Hello:

This is my first post but I have a problem that I wanted to see if anyone else has experienced. I have a black/black 2009 TL SH-AWD with Tech Package. I also have non-metalic tinted windows. My problem is this: The navigation shows my correct location only about 50% of the time. Sometimes it's just a block or two off, other times its +/- 100 miles off. Quite frustrating, especially if I'm trying to USE my navigation to actually FIND something.

So I've brought my TL into the Acura dealer twice now. The first time they reloaded the Navigation software. Not fixed. So I brought it back. This time the supposedly replaced the antenna, but said that the problem was more than likely the tinted windows. I look in my owners manual and don't see anywhere where it says not to tint the windows.

Has anyone else run into this problem?

Thanks!

Paul

From the owner's manual:

If you have front or side window tinting
installed, be aware that if the tint has
metallic properties, it can seriously
degrade or prevent GPS reception. This
is because the GPS antenna is located
behind the navigation display in the
center of the dashboard.

What kind of tint do you have? Do you have a metallic tint installed? If so that could likely be the cause of the problem.

I know you said that the tint was non-metallic, but you should check with the installer. Supposedly this is a common problem with metal-based tints
