ipod Problems
I just purchased a new 2010 Acura TL. I have been attempting to listen to my Apple ipod through the connection for the ipod in the center console. Whenever I connect I get the message; "unsupported version". I have a generation 4 ipod with 30 gb of memory (about 5 years old). The ipod has version 1.2.1. I am using iTunes 9.1.0.79.
I have reset everything and nothing seems to work. My ipod does work on my iHome radio and other third party connections. I did take the problem to my Acura dealer and they could not resolve the problem.
I can listen to my ipod through the mp3 connection however the contents of the ipod are not displayed nor can I download my playlists to the hard drive. I have connected a friends iphone to the system and it works fine so the problem is not with the Acura.
Any ideas or suggestions to solve this problem would be greatly appreciated. Thank you........ Gerry Claes

The manual tells what versions of Ipod will work thru the USB function, but I'm not certain it's really accurate. My nano is not supposed to work (only about 2 years old), but I tried it and works perfectly.
Sorry this is not very helpful; maybe you could try to look up your Ipod on the Apple website to verify what generation it is and at least see if it's supposed to work according to the manual. I know that current and last generation Nanos (pre-video, pre-FM radio versions) will work.

yes, it's the cable
I bet that it's the cable. You have to have an updated cable. I was having a similar problem.
But once you get it hooked up, you may wish to go back to before. I don't have many complaints about my 2009 TL, but the software for the ipod absolutely sucks. There is zero search capability, so if you have a ton of songs, it may work better searching from the ipod itself.
