IPhone 4G USB Connection?

Hey Everyone...

Just traded my 08 Type S for a 10 TL SH-AWD...love it...

Question...how do you listen to your IPhone 4G through the USB Connection? It connects, the car recognizes it, but the iphone says it is connected through a USB device on the screen and I cannot scroll to my music/playlists. Anyone else having this issue?

You have to plug in the phone before you start the car and make sure the ipod portion of your phone is completely off first.
start car and should show up..
better to just stream by BT.

search this has been covered.

If you have the tech package, you should set your phone up via bluetooth. Doing so will allow you to make calls through the car stereo/microphone, as well as stream music from the iPod functionality on your iPhone4. Hope that helps =)

Here is a video walk-through:

Part 1:

Once you have it setup, select Bluetooth audio by clicking the HDD/USB button or by using voice command and say Bluetooth Audio.

Once you are set to bluetooth audio, select your song on your iPhone and it will play.

I cannot seem to get my iPhone to play music whenever I am charging it through the USB, but I think I'll try the suggestion made by the other user in this post.

Good luck =)

this happens to me sometimes with my iphone4 - when it happens and it looks like there is no music, I just tell voice command... IPOD TRACK SHUFFE and it than shows all your music and starts playing..

I think it is because I plugged my iphone in before the car was on.. but either way just doing above will get it going and all the songs show up again

It is not better to stream bluetooth, the quality is not as good as the dock connection, plus there is lag.

The problem seems to be that iOS 4.0.1 and forward have small enhancements that cause it not to be absolutely, totally, 100% compatible with the Technology Package.

You'll notice that very frequently your iPhone 4 will pop up that the device to which you have connected is not compatible, and that you might experience some noise.

After fiddling with this the whole time I have owned an iPhone 4, I have discovered that it might have something to do with either impedance or voltage detection. I finally found an Apple-original USB-to-iPhone-dock cable that works 100% of the time and allows me to use the iPod interface.

I like having the iPod interface because I can switch albums without having to pick up the phone.

If this doesn't matter to you very much, if you drive shorter distances and would tend not to need to change albums or artists while moving, then the 100% servicability answer for you is going to be to connect your iPhone to the car plug charger (not USB) and just use the Bluetooth audio. The Bluetooth audio, iPhone to Acura ELS, is really very, very good and you shouldn't be afraid to rely on it.

I dunno, Bud. An iPhone 4 + ELS is really pretty darned good.

Can you still use the iphone to answer bluetooth calls, if using to stream bluetooth audio? The guy in the youtube setup made it sound as if you have to plug the iphone into the USB in order to play the music and be able to use bluetooth for phone calls?

Yes you can.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bluetooth_profile

a2dp is the newer Blue-tooth protocol that allows 2 way streaming.
It will pause the ipod or pandora and jump to phone and once call is done is will auto resume..works great.

I don't know why he said it like that. Your Bluetooth music is interrupted when your iPhone rings, and the music picks up again after you hang up.

I have a slight preference for the USB/iPod connection because I don't have to look at the phone to use the iPod controls. It seems a little easier and safer to use the car's controls instead of the iPhone's controls.
