I wanted to know if it is just me or is there anyone else experiencing this senario. I have a 2010 tech FWD that I bought last year, the xm, traffic and weahter service has all been expired but from time to time if I click on the weather feature the actual weather information in the vicinity actually works as if I had the service when I went into setting the other two i.e 1. xm, 2. traffic is still expired but the weather said receiving. The way it works is like a tease its suppose to be expired but sometimes the service give me a suprise by offering the weather information.. The question is:

Why is this happening??
Is there something I should know about.?
Is it a data feed via my cell phone why weather info tramsit thorugh the car beacuae I have bluetooth connected?
Is there a way to continue this feature without paying for it through Sirius?

Im a noobee let me know whats up with this, hope I explained myself clearly enough I tried.

And by the way if there is any input or tricks (knowledge ) about the technology of our car that would come from owners experience let me know as I am new to owning the car I got it last August Im stiull learning as I drive it daily..

Siriusxm was broadcasting to all radios for free from early December until about half way through the month. They will be doing it again soon, if they aren't already. That's most likely the reason. I noticed mine was working during that time frame.

 

Funny, I just noticed my weather feature was working the other day too even though I don't have the service activated. I had an alert due to fog which clued me in on it. I didn't think to see if XM was working though.

 

now that make sense.....im thinking about getting the service again what do you guys think?

 

I just call up before my contract expires. I usually get a $25/6 month deal. No traffic or weather. I don't listen to xm a lot, usually spotify and music on my phone. But it's good to have when you're sick of listening to the stuff on your phone.

 

I recommend you invest 20 minutes and give XM a call - be polite and assertive about getting the "best" price they can give you. Then say no thanks and go for the better deal when they offer it.

I got a weather warning the other day which was weird. All I have is the traffic option which comes in handy here in So Cal. Don't care about the weather and XM music sounds like nails on a chalkboard.
