Unhappy Front Door Speaker Blown - Again!

I know the front door speakers have been an issue for 09 owners, but I'm going on my third pair!!! Anyone else had repeated issues with these speakers?

EEK! Don't like hearing that one. I haven't had any issues, and I do give the stereo a good workout.

do you slam your doors when you close them? since I have been mindful of how I close my doors I have not had any problems after two front door replacements.

I went aftermarket after I blew a rear and a center. I've been happy ever since.

I agree. You should go aftermarket, even 50-100 dollar speakers will be nicer than the replacements they put in.

Had the same issue at stealership here. I've got two blown, one in each car. Time to upgrade, the trip to the dealer will take longer than replacing the damn things with something better anyhow.

Just got the speakers replaced by Acura of Omaha - sound great! Of course at this rate, I'll go thru another 5-6 pairs before my extended warranty give out....

Wow...that's crazy. I guess the factory radio/amp puts out too much wattage?! If so, the aftermarket speakers will likely crank up nicely since they can handle more.

The first time one of mine blew I took it to the audio dealer and had JL Audio put in. Haven't looked back since.

I will call Acura directly after the 3rd speaker. I suggest them to put in an aftermarket set, or I'll come back over and over again, which will cost them more in the end...

When you guys replaced with aftermarket did they sound better? From what I saw originals are 6 ohms aftermarket usually 4 ohms therefore the amp will be more efficient.

I replaced mine with Infinity References. I have been very pleased with the sound they put out. They are much more robust than the crap OEM's I believe they were 6 ohm like the originals.

Turn to a talk radio station, and listen for any buzzing in the speaker. Adjust the BAL and FAd and listen to each individual speaker.

They just straight up sound like rubbish. Believe me when you have new speakers and your rockin' out to your favorite electronia jam, you know they're not blown.

It's really something else this TL sound system, when speakers are in touch with their innner self!

There aren't that many 4G members who have had blown speakers, when compared to those having tranny shift problems and propeller shaft noise problems, by judging from the number of 4G members who post on this 4G TL forum.

well the tranny shifts and propeller shafts only apply to sh-awd models... but then again.. almost all members have sh-awd models.. there are a very few that have fwd.. you see more awd then fwd on this section

I had my front tweeters replaced cause they were making this weird buzzing sound that only I could hear(4 different techs listened to it and nobody noticed it) and the front center speaker just started giving me this annoying high pitched buzz when I listen to talk stations. It's really off and on too, so when they work right I'm like but when they don't it's more like

My passenger door speaker is blown, and I need to replace it. I almost never open the passenger door, so explain how it busted. Will the dealership replace it under warranty? Am I better off replacing it myself w/ something better? If so, wouldn't I have to replace multiple speakers? THANKS!!

The operation of the door has no impact to the life of the speaker. The durability of these OEM speakers is not that great. If you replace them with aftermarket you will need to replace the pair.

Thanks - any suggestions on what to replace it with? Keep in mind, I'll ONLY be replacing the front two speakers (right?), and keeping everything else as is. I adore my car, but see no need to upgrade the sound system, especially when I'm in the market for a replacement vehicle in the next 12-15 months. (and I'm giving this car to my parents, to replace some American crap they bought new 10 years ago)

I've had Infinity Reference speakers in my front doors for a year now. No complaints at all. You can find these for less than $100/pair.

May I ask where you purchased them? And how complicated is the install? Like, an afternoon project, or better left to the dealership?

^fuck the car stereo, it's a terrible listening enviroment.

I put my money into the ultimate audiophile home system. It took several years of hunting and outbidding, but I finnally have something that sounds so good that I have turned to talk radio in the car...listening to good music in that little room sucks.
