i havent driven my TL for a few days. today when i started my car to warm up and got a message on my screen.( weather alert). then i went to real-time weather and suprised my realtime weather is working. i didnt pay for it. just wonderin if you guys have free realtime weather?

 

Yes, this happened to me too. I also thought that maybe the traffic option may have magically appeared too, but no luck on that one.

Same thing on my car as well. No traffic, but live weather was available.

 

now everyone has free realtime weather.acura should have free real time traffic too

Just renewed my XM and traffic last week and then saw I had weather working Friday night. Thought maybe they messed up and gave me weather instead of traffic but both were working. Haven't been in the car since then to check.

 

I always have had FREE LIVE WEATHER updates.....Oh wait, thats because I am a meteorologist and do my own forecast!! *LMAO*

 

Around here it's easy, if there is rain or snow, traffic will suck, doesn't matter if it's a flood or a sprinkle.

 

its still a very cool feature to have. i just use my iphone though.

 

I also had weather info appear ...but I just subscribed for xm and I don't have traffic info anybody knows what I can do to get the real traffic info to work?

 

even though its pretty cool, its not really live or realtime weather...its updated, but not live or realtime....

i want to beable to see the roads i am traveling on, or the route that i have in and see weather on that map, not on the weather map they are relaying you, that is lagging through the system...

 

Looks like you may need the service a meteorologist at your finger tip I should start exploring some weather services for my Acurazine friends *ha ha*

How long is the trial? How much does weather and traffic usually cost when you have to pay through XM?

 

I got a notice in the mail from Sirius XM.
Listen free from 8/30 to 9/12.
Wondering if the weather will end then too.

 

With smart phones and the ability to stream Bluetooth audio, I am starting to think that XM's business model is severely outdated. I can stream Pandora and Slacker for free. I am finding it harder renew my subscription when it expires.

 

I have a feeling that is where Acura (and others) are headed in the near future. Last year I received a detailed survey from Acura wanting my opinions on my TL and thoughts on future features. They asked about a lot of things, but one of the most prominent subjects was a new infotainment system that works off a smartphone and simply allows you to access on your car what you can on your phone (e.g., Pandora, GPS/Traffic, weather.com, etc.). I expect we'll see that on the 5G if not sooner. But you're right - none of this bodes well for XM/Sirius unless they find a way to really step up their game.

 

the free weather is just a teaser to get you to sign up. I cancelled mine because knowing the temps for the next two days would be nice to know and the graphics are so early eighties/ pacman style. Doesn't make since that Buick has a nicer weather forcaster.
