Compass and anyway to have iPhone USB and Bluetooth?

Hey new owner of 12 tl w/tech. Two questions

1- how do I get my nav to display the compass? Anyway to get it to display my direction?

2- I have an iPhone 4 and would like to have it plugged it to USB for my music and connected via Bluetooth for phone. However when Bluetooth is connected the USB connection doesn't work; the Bluetooth takes over. Should I just buy a cheap iPod and keep in the car? Thanks

Your iphone will play audio over the bluetooth as well, and skip/volume controls will work (just no nav-screen display). I just bluetooth all the audio from my iphone (mainly Pandora) and bought a 16gb USB stick for $25 to store MP3s on (the OSD works fine with them and gives high quality playback)

To get your compas to show your actual driving direction:
Once your NAV is up and is on the regular map view press enter and then go to Map Information, select option 2-Heading up.
This will show your car on the Map heading in the direction your are driving....
Hope this helps!!

this is actually an issue with the iphone because it defaults to BT, especially when you have BT enabled. if you attach via the USB, you'll have to change it to USB on the iphone when playing your mp3s. very manual process. your best bet is just let it stream via BT. connections is very good. in my case, i attach it to the USB on long drives and when i need to charge.
