Changing out stock subwoofer

Hey all just tried something new and decided I wanted some more bass out of the stock system. Ordered a 8 inch type r from alpine, with a alpine 500 mono amp. I wanted a factory look so I will be hiding the amp. I also added additional sound damper.

So far this is what I have done.

Amp installed on the left side next to factory amp, fits perfect behind truck carpet.

Before

Ran the power wore thru the driver side fender per other post, but you can see any wires and ran it to the back thru molding and rear seat.

Still waiting on the subwoofer to come in the mail, should be all done my monday. I will be connecting the amp with a online converter with the amp power on built into online converter.

Looks good! I also will be replacing this out pretty soon. Might go with a Hybrid Audio Claurus subwoofer though instead.

Well as far as for the alpine sub, there was a small difference, but I was not satisfiesatisfied with the results, since the sub works much better in a ported box, so I just ordered a ported box. The sound deadening did make some improvements and is worth it. But I am not sure if it is just the type of subwoofer I ordered.

you are going to need a free-air subwoofer to work well in that location, but then you have to worry about the rear deck rattling!

IMO remove the factory sub and do an infinite baffle setup in the trunk/rear seat area.

I would agree with this, you do need a Free Air sub to work properly back there.

But doing a baffle setup is a lot more work then what he just did here. I'm assuming he was just working for a quick fix.

It's not hard to remove. You do need elbow grease. You have to remove the back seat first, then the trim in the corners. The back dash pops out pulling up.

The back seat cushion is held in by clips right under where you would sit on both sides. Push down on the seat then pull the release. I think a few 10mm holds in the back . I dynamatted my back dash and doors too I can say it helps out some.

Any chance you can be slightly more detailed?

I knew when I bought the car someone had removed the rear speaker deck, but when I got the car tinted yesterday we noticed they didn't replace the rear deck correctly so the center part is buckled upwards - I'm guessing a clip is out of place.

Echo,

Any updates on your setup? I'm looking to put a Clarus in the rear deck this weekend. Identical setup as the OP. Also going to Dynomat the rear deck and all doors. Any updates would be greatly appreciated.
