Can TL maps be updated with RDX media?

Hi,

I have a 2013 RDX and a 2014 TL. If I decide to update the navigation maps next year on the RDX, can I use the same media to update the TL as well? Or are the updates model-specific?

Thanks,

Gregg

Good question...not sure if anyone here can answer definitively. The map update discs would likely be the same, but when ordering, one has to provide VIN number (the suggestion being that the disc is specific not just to the model, but to the individual car, at least for "unlocking" purposes) Whether or not this is true is the question. Based on everything I've read, nobody here is certain. I'd suggest that you could be the test case, however if your TL is a 2014, you've likely got up to date maps already.

The real question you need to ask yourself is whether you need to update on such new vehicles at all. Do you live in or travel to an area that is in "transition"?

I probably won't update for a while. I was just curious. The 2014 TL has the latest maps and the 2013 RDX is only 1 year behind. I'll probably wait another year or two, but I was just wondering if I had to order separate updates. If it's based on the VIN, then I guess the answer is yes. Thanks.
