it seems like this is a bug? the name of the caller does not show on screen unless i call him first. even though it is imported into the system already.

any idea?

I don't own a TL but I've encountered similar situation with my car's own sytem.

How does the number shows up as? The system could read it differently depending on the format of the phone number.

0-000-000-0000?
000-000-0000?
000-0000?

One thing to consider doing is reformat your imported number to match the number that comes in from your friend. This will ensure that the system will show the caller's name in the future.

I've had the same issues. What I've been doing is re-syncing the 3G iPhone at the beginning of my day and usually helps my caller ID. When I get a new call or imported contact, I re-sync again and the ID seems to work.

the calls come in as 1-123-123-1234 sometimes and i guess my phone book is 123-123-1234 . However if I call that person, and it's in my history, then they call it shows the name fine :\
