Better Disable your Keyless Remote!!!

After seeing this, I think I am going to flip the switch in the Glove box, and always insert the keyfob to start the car.....

It was about to happen..... :-) (notice the make of the SUV in the video ... :-) ) Notice also, that they say it does not work for Ford etc..but Acura's and Hondas??? I thought our tech package was pretty high end! :-)

It seems that they aren't stealing the car, just getting to steal stuff inside... flipping that switch won't stop these guys

...Wow..a very simple repeater system...never thought of that....

OK, so now we have to hack our remotes, and place an ON/OFF switch somewhere on it....this way, you only turn it on where you want to get in your car, and turn it off otherwise....

One option is to buy one of those RF shielded bags to store the key fob, to prevent RF signal from being emitted outside the shielding bag.

But this also creates inconvenience, because the driver will need to take the key fob out from the shielding bag to unlock and start the car, and will need to put the key fob back into the shielding bag after locked up the car.

Look at the bright side! At least they're not busting the glass/doors.

Now this makes me think - about two weeks ago I had my wallet stolen from my 2010 TL that was parked in my driveway - under security lights. The wallet was in the middle armrest and I was SURE I had locked the car the night before. I came out in the morning and the armrest was up (wallet gone), glove compartment open, and little storage area in front of the shifter was open. Nothing really disturbed and nothing else taken. I figured that I had somehow not locked my car but maybe this was what happened. On the other hand, I live in suburban Delaware and I am not so sure this technology is in use in my development... (there were no attempted charges on my credit cards and I had no money in the wallet. Turned out to be more of an inconvenience than anything else)

I once ran outside upon hearing my alarm going off in the driveway. No one in sight by the time I made it out, but all the windows were down, sunroof was open, and the glove box had been rifled through. I don't keep anything in there but an umbrella so nothing was taken... At the time I assumed that I had accidentally pushed the button on the fob while it was in my pocket and held it down long enough to open everything up. On seeing this, though, it makes one wonder.
