4G Base Stereo Upgrade Questions
I’m looking into upgrading the sound system of my base model 2012 TL with the following:
Infinity Kappa 60.11 cs components (Front)
Infinity Kappa 62ix coaxials (rear)
Pioneer GM-DX975 5 channel amp
TBD 10” sub (leaning JL 10w7)
I’m new to the 4G TL - a couple of questions:
Audio shop I spoke with earlier said I’ll need a 6-channel processer because they can’t tap into the factory wires for a 5-channel amp. Sounds like BS to me - anybody?
Also, the reason I started looking into this was my passenger rear speaker has a terrible distorted sound when I turn the volume past 15-20. I assumed this was a blown tweeter because of the high pitched distortion, but I was told they are not components in the rear - just mid bass speakers. Is it possible that there is a problem with the factory amp? I can’t seem to reconcile how a midbass speaker could sound like it has a blown tweeter.
Thanks!

You should be able to tap into the signal after factory amp as long as your Amp has HIGH level inputs, if not use a LOC (line out converter). As far as I know, all the speakers are full range signal from the amp so it could be distortion due to the full range signal.
