2012 TL: NAV update provide software update?
The 2015 NAV map update was just released. I was thinking about getting it IF it also updates other software in the system.
Specifically, I never got my car updated to resolve TSB 11-016, which is an issue with the Bluetooth handsfree system. My car is out of warranty, so I can either order the software update disc for about $37 or get new maps which may include the software update.
Does anyone know if map update discs also update other software in the system?
The map update is usually $149, discounted to $99 months later. Does anyone know how to get a better price on newly released updates?

Purchasing the update disks and code from Acura is the only method I'm aware of. You must enter the "code" that is specific for your nav unit for the update to occur. We could use someone eles' disks if the correct update code could be generated for our specific nav units.

I wound up just buying the map update for $149. This updated the software as well (which solved the problem indicated in the TSB). I could have just purchased the software update from one of the various Acura OEM parts suppliers (that was the $37). But this way I get new maps, as well as solve the Bluetooth phone directory issue.

Did you order online? I currently have Database 10.C0 and software 2.90 and every time I try to enter the database version it tells me that it's wrong. (It's not).

The part number for the software update is 07AAZ-TM0A100. Here is the thing, though. That part number is what is written in the Acura Service Bulletin 11-016. If you order it, you will likely get the version of the software that was written to solve that particular issue, defined in the service bulletin (v2.12)- no necessarily the latest software version which is included in the latest NAV map update (v3.10).

I ordered this 2014 Red DVD Map Update v2.80.7.C0 and the part number is U4136-0075-309 for my 09 Acura TL. Application version 2.80 with MAP Database version 7.C0.

Ok, so I'm new to Acura and the updates. I purchased a 2014 TL Tech back in May - love it. (Who wouldn't if you'd come from a 12 year old Taurus.)
Are you "stuck" paying for updates or do you get some free during the first year?

Bump - I'm still looking to get an answer as to whether the software update came on a separate disk. I've seen on one other thread (forget where) that the navi and software updates are separate. If that's the case I'd love to get my hands on the software update only - I am having issues with my navi freezing up every day. Radio works but the navi screen doesn't update position, respond to buttons, etc. And it keeps resetting my "Heading up" compass setting. If it's possible to get just the software update please let me know - don't want to drop $150 to update the maps I rarely use. Thanks

I would also be interested in the response to this question. I bought a 2010 and wanted to know if you can still enter the address in the nav system while the car is moving

I have updated twice for my 2012. I have NOT noticed any changes to functionality or visuals other than the maps themselves.

I wonder if it'll allow info stream through bluetooth. I have an 09 and I heard the 2012+ model shows music info when streaming songs through bluetooth.

I don't know of any other place to purchase. If my memory is correct the update usually go's on sale for $99 right after the new year.

I will likely purchase regardless once it drops to $99 (whenever the hell that may be).
