2012 Red DVD Update - Not Working
I have a CPO 2009 TL SH-AWD, the maps had never been updated since it was new. I ordered the 2012 Red DVD Update and it arrived yesterday. I had a long drive this morning, so I figured I would let the update run during the drive, but every time I try to update it, it says the password is incorrect.
I called Navteq over lunch and was told that the update is not ready yet, that once it’s ready I will get a phone call and then I can update it. This makes no sense to me? How would they have shipped the DVD if it’s not ready yet? Is there some date logic in the code that will say it’s incorrect until a certain date? I am not receiving any sort of on-line updates, so I don’t see how it can be any more ready than what is on the disk. Has anyone else gotten the update and had a problem?

AcuraLink uses a cell-phone connection, which so far hasn't worked with my iPhone or Moto Atrix 4G.
Call Acura, not Navteq.

Wrong. AcuraLink uses the XM satellite to download info. The cellular connection is only used when you want to schedule a dealer appointment:

Still, I don't think it's downloading anything. Too expensive.
Acuralink is basically XM, right?
I guess the VIN or the GPS/Receiver/Radio-Password are not correct.

Maybe the OP gave the wrong VIN or password when he/she ordered the disc? Or the disc was someone programmed incorrectly?

Apparently, they generated incorrect codes for the disks, and have been trying to find out what the right codes were. The agent gave me a new code and told me to give it a try, this time it worked.
Apparently the first person I spoke to who was in some call center who told me the update was not ready, really meant NavTeq screwed up and didn't have a fix yet.

2. You can't copy the Navigation update discs. I don't remember if they are incrypted or just work with a single radio code but I don't think anyone successfully makes copies.

Though I agree they should give free updates (or lower cost at least) not going to happen anytime soon.
