Would I get a maintenance reminder?

Hi Guys, I bought a 2012 FWD TL with 60K on it. Yesterday, for the first time I changed my own engine oil/filter with 20% oil life remaining. I am really proud of myself .

At the end of oil change, I reset the oil life back to 100% as I was not sure, if it would auto-reset and how "smart" is built-in maintenance minder.

Question I have is, whether I will receive a maintenance reminder for transmission oil change when its due or not? I am not sure if/when previous owner replaced the transmission oil.

Please advise.

Thanks.

Sub Item 3 should indicate Transmission Fluid Change I believe. So instead of A1 or B1 code you'll get A3 or B3, maybe A13 or B13.

you reset the oil life yourself, it's not that smart.

if you're unsure, you should just do the transmission fluid change yourself for peace of mind.

Are you suggesting, that I should wait for maintenance minder to remind for Transmission Fluid change?

Thanks.

I am sorry, I am not sure if indeed meant that oil life indicator would reset by itself or was it a sarcasm? I am still learning about this car and not sure how smart is maintenance minder in this TL.

congrats on the purchase. For peace of mind i would change the transmission fluid since you change the engine oil though its not critical you can change the transmission oil every 25k miles based on how the car is driven. And yes the maintenance minder will notify you that it is time to change the trans fluid. Did you check the dipstick to check the condition it is in, if it is red and look fresh i would say it good, also how many miles is a factor if it has let's say 60k it may be been through 2-3 trans fluid changes, so the next one is not too far and that is if the previous owner took car of it with routine scheduled maintenance.

Please help me understand how maintenance minder works:

Does TL Maintenance minder make recommendations based on ACTUAL quality of various fluids and components? or is it simply a counter which makes recommendation based on time lapsed since last reset or occurrence?

Also, should I be resetting maintenance minder after maintenance has been performed, or does it reset by itself?

Thanks.
