Dealer Recommended / Acura Reminder Scheduled Maintenance

I am new to Acura. I just bought 04 TL with 55k.

Should I follow the dealer recommended maintenance? Such as 3750 oil change etc
Or just wait until the car tell me what it need to be done such as A1/B2 etc (Through the car maintenance reminder)

How often should we do oil change? 3k/3.75k/5k/7.5k

Thank you,

Acurasienz

Congrats on your purchase. Wait until your MID tells you it's time for maintenance. If you don't, the MID will not be accurate in the future for service intervals.

Engineers design cars. Dealers are not engineers.

Dealers want your money. More maint = more money.

I'd put more trust in the engineers who designed the car and MID and their motives than the dealer and their motives.

the mid - if reset at last oil change- will give you 7500 miles under `normal` service
Check the owner book to see if you are really `Severe service`- harsh winter may be coming etc...
Average 5000-7500 miles on good oil is not a problem at all-thats what acura figured
Synthetics last better- no prob running 7500 on those

DO change the brake fluid NOW- FLUSH it, not just change the master cyl fluid- it has to get new fluid coming out of each bleeder

If you dont know for sure when the last oil change was done- its cheap insurance to DIY it now and start fresh
Run some cleaner in the gas- Lucas or redline are good choices- full bottle to 1/2 tank of gas
seafoam works good too
Do the intake manifold with seafoam -see DIY pages- it removes carbon buildup and glaze- makes engine run like new
OK to use it in the oil right before a change too- will clean oil passages and ports- makes better oil pressure and keeps vitals clean
register with acura ansd ask for a recall check 1-800-382-2238x5 and here

need your vin for both of those

welcome to acurazine!
