Wont start after accident

Hey guys MY 2010 SHAWD wont start following a collision. There was no frame or engine damage thank God. Sadly I had liability insurance. I need to replace fenders and srs on wheel. Can anyone let me know please where the inertia/immobilizing switch is at so i can get her to start. I get accessory lights only when i push button to start. The horn was going off and I had to remove the fuse from under hood to shut it up. The dealer obviously said I need to bring her in for diagnostics you know to steal my money instead of just telling me where the darn fuel cut off is... please help me out here I know how to fix many things but not about sensors.

Try disconnecting your battery and plugging everything back in, including the fuse you took out. It might be the anti theft system with the immobilizer not allowing to start the car. How fast were they going when they hit you?

Sorry you had to experience that! I swear these drivers are getting worse. I’m from CT and every day is a battle when I decide to drive locally instead of the highway. The car should be able to start right up I feel like it’s the theft system acting up. I remember a time I was changing the key slot in my TL and the car locked itself once I hit the push start button my horn started honking and it would not start till I hit a button on my key fob.

I'm going to give it a try with the battery. Here in Texas drivers suck ass. They are a lot of illegal drivers here too that if they get cought they are screwed.

I would like to know if there is a killswitch type of button as well. Car didnt want to turn on right after the hit.

Did your airbags go off? If they did the SRS is the problem.

Bad news. When the SRS senses a crash and deploys the airbags it also shorts the fuel pump in an effort to prevent an engine fire. In this case the crash data needs to be wiped or the SRS needs to be replaced with a unit from the exact matching year that hasn't been in an accident. So basically you’ll have to take it to the dealer or some collision shop with the software to fix the SRS.

damn tough luck for me. I can get the srs from same year no issues. But the wipe will be my problem. Do I need to replace the fuel pump?

Fuel pump should be fine. Once you get the SRS issue resolved car should be fine. It’s probably why you see a lot of cars get towed after having accidents.

That explains it, I'm making moves right now on those airbag parts. I need the the front left impact sensor, the airbag and can I replace the module if I get a good price? The parts are from a regular 2010 TL not the AWD

Just have to make sure everything fits and is the same part number. https://www.acurapartswarehouse.com/ check part numbers and parts to see if they match.

slightly off topic, but do you know the part number for those wheels and what size they are? i've been thinking of getting another set of Acura wheels with different tires on them so i can just swap based on my needs and have been slowly compiling a list of the stock wheels i like.

Dude - not to add insult to injury, but only liability on a 4G TL? Granted, they're not worth $30K or anything but I doubt yours is worth less than $15K being SH-AWD and assuming its got <100K miles on it. Unless your driving record is really bad, I'd consider collision/comprehensive in the future. I have a less-than-perfect driving record (1 at fault accident and 1 speeding ticket in the last 3 years) but I only pay about $400 more per year for collision/comprehensive than liability alone. And my 4G has 155K miles and is only FWD (worth about $9K). Still well worth the cost, especially if it were totaled.

Good luck with your repairs.

You sure? My wife rearended an MDX a while back, and the towhitch hit the front SRS sensor in our TL, causing the airbags to go off... After seeing how much it would cost to tow the car, she just drove the car to the dealer.... The looks on their faces when she pulled into the Acura Service Center, with the driver side bags deployed was priceless...

Heck anything is possible nowadays. I’m sure they were stunned by you pulling up like that. Good thing you were able to get it to dealership without having to pay for a tow truck.

The reason why is because the killswitch is the driver airbag I'm getting the computer reset as well as transmission reprogramming

You probably should be a little pickier about wheel dimensions than just stud pattern. Just getting 5x120s will get you some weird BMW wheels that don't fit over your brakes, or stick out from the car, or won't center on the hub without an adapter ring, etc.

Although once you get into spacers and adapters, you can do anything. Totally zombo.com.

FWIW, 5x120 w/ 64.1mm center bore, M14 x 1.5" studs, and a 40mm offset. But anything 35-45mm offset should work without other adjustments.

I'm sorry you were in an accident, and am glad you're ok. Good luck getting your baby fixed.

Lol facts about the 5x120 deal. I looked up some and all I got was indeed beamer wheels haha.

and thanks about the car, so far update for now they got all suspension fixed which was 1400 in parts labor was 400 total. Pretty cheap labor. Now I'm here with them about the electrical.
