I also want to do this!

but I know this has been asked before and there was little reply. Maybe someone did it for the 3g tl and the wiring is similar.

I dont understand why car manufacturers will not let you control the fogs independently....lamo!

It was me

If you know how to wire a 12v relay then you will not no problem doing this. If not, then this is not a DY job for you.

Disconnect the factory Fog connectors and buy new ones (H11.) This way you can go to back to stock if need be. The hardest part of doing this is getting the 2 switch wires in the car.

what is the "parking lamp hot wire" where do you find that?

The reason I use the parking lamp to energize the relay is so if you leave the fogs on by mistake they will cut off by themselves when the parking lamps cut off. Plus I like my fogs on with the parking lamps. The ground wire that is going to the fuss box, can be connected anywhere you can find ground. Your diagram does not look right. The red wire from your switch should be connected to any ignition switch wire, so that the lights only come on once the car is started

how do i make it so that when i start the car, my fogs are already on along with my drl's? and if i switch to headlight, my fogs stay on.

pretty much what i want to say is that i want my fogs on at all times but only when the car is on? where should i wire that to? also i want my fog light switch on my steering column to work with it as well

If that is all you want to do then its very easy to do. First buy some new fog light connections. wire the grounds together and wire to hots to any connection that has 12volts when you start the car. That would be a five minute job for me. You can add a switch later on if you want. Might be good to put a 10amp in line fuse at the hot connection.

You can tap at the daytime running light wire. I would buy new fog connectors first, so when you want to go back to stock, just plug the OEm back in.

Any idea how obnoxious that is to other drivers, who have to be blinded by your constantly on fogs? Why not just use them when it is foggy? or on dark streets without other drivers around? I do not understand why people do this, as they cannot see their own fogs on, only other drivers who are annoyed by them. I can only hope that you do not also add extra bright bulbs in the fogs.

lol.. i dont know why this is an issue to you? as you already know our drls are already bright as it is, in fact, its shining directly at you if you were to see it from your rear view mirrior.

the fog lights arent even at the point where its blinding, and plus, you have more issues to worry about in day light then just my fogs, (the bring ass sun)

btw, if you dont have anything constructive to say or to answer my question on top, please please do not say anything at all.

Yes you can do that as long as there is no power there when the ignition is off.

#1) Big damn DISCLAIMER: Do not attempt to alter the factory wiring of your Acura. These systems were specifically designed with your safety in mind.
#2) Those 4G TL fogs are about as bright as two 4-"D" cell Maglights. I understand why you want them to come on independently from the headlights as I too would like that option. I would also like a beverage heater/cooler as well, but the car did not come with one and I'm not going to add a wire to the 7.5amp wiper fuse to have one installed.

#3) Althought it is illegal to operate fog/driving lights in the presence of an on comming vehicle in most states, you are the only person I've heard bitch about them. They are just not that bright.

#4) You ^ and I may know how to properly work on/install accesories to a vehicles electrical system, but the majority of AZ members do not. Tapping into wires, running relays, or converting factory systems to operate in a manner that would not be acceptable at a stealership will not only void a warranty but cause problems for future owners of the vehicle.

#5) OP, it's not worth it unless you add HiD's to those fogs. You could have it done professionally for around $130-180 at a qualified aftermarket shop (like a large stereo shop). They have the tools and experience to do a proper install that they can service if an issue should arise. If you do it yourself and fuck up your car, no one will touch it when you fry your electrical.
Otherwise,
SAVE YOUR MONEY & time.

@dwest1023 I read both your posts (this on & https://acurazine.com/forums/showt...&highlight=fog ) & I agree with @Mr Marco, SOME OF US may know how to properly work on/install accesories to a vehicles electrical system, but the majority of AZ members do not. If it isn't too much of a bother, can you do a step-by-step on this,... I and many others would gladly appreciate it. TY

First of all MY method is reversible and does NOT affect the Acura electrical system.

step one.
Purchase new fog connectors because you will not be using the ones on the car. You will tape those up so the process can be reversed if you need.

The new connectors will have two wires coming out of them. You are going to connect one wire from each connector together ( make sure whatever wire you use, use the exact same from both fog connectors). Basically you will connect these together and attach a single wire to it. This wire will attach to the relay marked output.

The other wire on each fog connects to a ground.

Next you are going to connect a wire from the + battery to the battery connector on the relay.

There is a ground connection on the relay and that needs to be connected to any ground.

If you want to fog lights to come on anytime the car is started, just connect are wire with a fuse to a ignition source from the fuse panel to one side of a switch. the The other terminal on the switch will connect to the last connection on the relay. Thats it.

Again this does NOT affect the OEM fog function. To return it back to stock, just remove the connectors you bought and connect the OEM back.

Any 12V single pole switch will work. I used a OEM Honda switch which fitted one of the blank spots on the dash. I do not recommend this switch unless you know electrical wiring.

I'm not sure how clear this is, so if any of you have any questions, I'm always here.

The way dwest is suggesting to wire the fogs is very cleaver and safe. By not using the existing wires, relays, and switch for the fogs you avoid any chance of messing up the factory electrical system.
