Windshield Replacement
Unfortunately I got cut off the other day by someone who wanted to make an exit at the last second on the highway, and while doing so spit a rock at my windshield. It will need to be replaced.. Anything I should know? Preferably I'd like to go with an OEM windshield but I don't think insurance will cough up the bill for that one.
Thanks

as far as I'm aware there isn't any aftermarket glass for the 4G TL, my windshield was replaced a few months ago by safelite with the acura one under FL glass policy.

Windshield
There are aftermarket windshields available for our 4G TL's.
2 years ago, a flying rock on the freeway hit my windshield which eventually turned into a 12in crack. I found a somewhat local windshield replacement shop that carried a brand called 'Pilkington'. Upon research, Pilkington seems to be the OEM window provider for German vehicles; Mercedes and Audi's.
To this day, I haven't had any issues with the Pilkington windshield. Every part of the glass is identical to our OEM, from the top 'fading' tint to the 'acoustic windshield layer'. Only thing different was the 'Acura' logo stamped.
If you can find a windshield installer with Pilkington brand windshield, I would go for it. I believe I paid about <$250 installed 2 years ago.

PGW and Pilkington are the two ones that are highly regarded from research I did when replacing the windshield on the kid's Mini Cooper a couple of years ago. A PGW on both the Mini, and then my RDX last year (after 500 miles) and they've held up well and are optically very clear.
While cruising the Acura dealer's lot last week, I saw a '13 ILX on the lot, and each piece of glass had the Acura logo and "Pilkington" etched in the corner. So I guess the OEM for at least that Acura is clear.... :-)

I ended up going through my employers windshield company we use for our fleet and got their rate. Pilkington for $225 CDN all in and lifetime warranty on the workmanship. I think that's a decent deal!

Hey guys. Got a chip last night a few inches from the passenger side edge of the windshield. Until I got home it already cracked horizontally to the edge. Called my insurance company and they'll replace it for $100 out of pocket. I think they use safelite, but I've been reading horror stories about safelite on the 3G section regarding a bunch of garbage glass manufacturers. I requested OEM supplier glass, which means I'll get Pilkington or PGW, I'm assuming? Did you guys have the install done at your house/work or did you take it to the glass shop?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Check out this thread for more info on windshields: https://acurazine.com/forums/third-g...-817643/page2/
As far as I know. For the 04-08 TLs at least, the OEM is AGC. PGW/Pilkington are NOT OEM for Acura glass as far as the 3G TLs.
GO look at the stamping on your windshield to see what the 4G TLs used.
