are you talking about A 6MT TL or TSX?

You are probably referring to the TL, just wanted to confirm.

Im on the bandwagon, but I'm not sure if it's the right thing to do, we will likely pay more and only get two years before the mmc and possible type s, but coming from a 6MT type s, I know an auto SH will bother me.

yes i was referring to the 4th Gen TL...

anyways, you think they will release a TL SH-AWD Type-S in 2011 or 2012?

i thought the SH-AWD was technically the Type-S. But then again, I'd be pissed too if they come out with a 340HP SH-AWD Type S later on or something... after i buy the 6MT SH-AWD this fall.

I'm personally waiting for the 6spd TL SHAWD. I'm current driving a 06 TSX 6spd and absolutely LOVE the car but i'm ready for the step up to a little more luxury. I've been through 3 cars (including my TSX) and have all been stick shifts. Can't wait til November...

I drove stick for 6 years. It is definitely more fun to drive but I don't think I can ever go back to it as a daily driver. I am older and traffic is not getting any better where I live. I am personally waiting for the 6 speed auto in the TL/TSX. My 05 TL is paid off. I am going to keep it for a couple of more years (2-3 yrs of no car note). I want to stay in the Acura family. Hopefully by then Acura has some compelling choices with at least 6speed autos. If I were in the market, I'd probably get the 09 TSX with the V6. It's about the right size. It looks really good and has enough HP/Torque for the type of driving I do.

Pansy.

You're not much older than I am and I live in the same area. It's not as bad as you make it sound. I've driven through much worse and the manual is a godsend since it helps me stay focused on the driving.

Although I'm worried Acura may do something to improve the snout in 2011 and/or come out with the Type S

I'm in as well; current driver is an 05 TSX auto.

I've been looking for an AWD, manual, and reliable sedan for a while; very limited market. Was about to give up and concede to the Subaru WRX or an auto G37x, but the 2010 TL 6MT may finally be the answer I'm looking for.

I joined this forum strictly because I plan on getting the 6sp MT on the new 4th gen. My wife says manuals are for kids and since I'm an adult now I should get an adult car. I say to hell with that! With more and more companies not offering manuals anymore, I say its the old people who get the manual transmissions because they're the only ones left who know how to drive one!

I can't wait for it to come out so I can order mine in Pearl White and Umber interior. Then I'll have a second pearl white member to add into the family, woot!

LOL. I can't wait to see how you feel 5-10 years from now. When I was your age I thought I would NEVER dry an automatic. I drove manual for 20 years and 3 years ago I got my 1st automatic. I still miss manual 5% of the time, the other 95% I'm fine with the slush box.

Too bad Acura isn't using dual clutch system like VWs DSG.

I find the 5spd auto sufficient enough. I'm older now and just don't find shifting gears a fun thing to do when I'm setting in so much traffic these days. I also have the luxury of owning a 6spd Corvette and when I feel the need to shift I can just drive that. Will be an awesome combination to say the least though.

If you work in DC and live in DC like I do, trust me you do not get a chance to enjoy a stick that much. Half the time one is either in traffic or at a red light. I personally don't miss it. I don't get much above 4th gear in the city. It's no better on the beltway. There are so many cars on the beltway at all times that I don't get the enjoyment out of high reving and opening up the car because it's just too dangerous. When I lived in San Antonio, there highways were more open and one could fully enjoy a stick.

Don't get me wrong, I think every man (and woman) should learn how to drive a manual. That should be considered a life skill.

I am waiting. This will be my first Acura so I was looking for a TL forum and found this one. I almost bought an 09 the other day until the sales guy mentioned a 6 speed was coming out. I think he now regrets he mentioned it.....anyway, how do guys like this car? Are there any issues with the 09 that they need to fix in 2010. And does anyone know when the dealers will be getting the 2010's with the stick? Thanks guys for helping out a newbie.

There are no real technical issues with the '09's except for some issues with Nav inaccuracies experienced by some members here. I have a feeling the upcoming 6MT models will be very, very limited......so you better pre-order one with a deposit if you really want it.

I currently have 06 TL with Navi. I like the car although half of it broke or had to be replaced within 2+ years of ownership. On my last visit to the dealer, I was given 09 TL/Tech and got to drive it for over a week.
As much as the new 6MT AWD 2010 is appealing from the performance and safety (Chicago’s winters can be brutal) standpoints, I am not feeling the exterior design of the car and will most likely skip the 4th gen for good. I am hoping that with the extended warranty, my current car will last through the 4th gen and when ready to buy the 5th gen will be around and much improved.

If "half of it broke or had to be replaced within 2+ years of ownership." I would definately not be giving my money to Acura or Honda again. I'd rather drive a boring Toyota than rewarding HoMoCo for giving you a lemon. JMO

Done ----gave the stealer a down payment as they are only getting two 6 speeds. One will be mine. Now I just need to know what color and options I want when they call me to say they are placing the order. Decisions, decisions.....thanks.

I started driving manual transmission cars in 1971 (my age is showing) with the 1st car I bought. It was a new baby blue super beetle with 4MT. My brother taught me how to drive it. Hated it at first but once I got the hang of it-loved it. I can honestly say-I rather drive MT than automatic and I do a lot of driving. My husband and I have 3 vehicles-all have MT. The last car we had with auto was a 1985 Volvo turbo diesel. We are planning to get a new acura in either March/April 2010. (6MT TL or 6MT tsx)
