all a 4g needs are aggressive wheels and a slight drop. i hate crappy 17's acura ships the base and tech fwd models.

Hell yes i mod my cars. I have a 3.7 6 speed in my 2nd gen plus many other mod with more coming.

And yes it is drool worthy when modded (correctly) but one shouldnt have to.... (how do i put it).. mod the car to hide a serious look issue or to make it look good. Point is is many dont want to "have" to mod the car to make it look good.

And 1 more reason i would turn down a 10, is the 5 speed auto. I will NEVER own another acura with a 5 speed auto.

To be honest when the wife told me she wanted a 4G I despised the car... The grill is straight up hideous... and the stance of the car stock is terrible... Coming from a 3G which had the looks of a sport sedan.. this 4G was bad... I got to doing some research and found the platform could be modded into a sweet ass ride as many of us here on the forum have done... So can it be sweet yea... does it start out that way? Nope... now once you paint the grille, paint the rear trim, Lower it 1.6 inches, and throw some wheels with proper offsets the car look great. Has good lines and turns heads. But out of the box... it had to be proven to me it could be what it's capable of... just my 2 cents...

There are plenty of TL haters...just check the TSX forums. That said, I had one car in between letting go of my TSX and my newly owned 2012 TL, and the TL beats them all in fit, finish, driveability, and practicality.

Sure, it could have better gas mileage, but I'd love to see a TSX try me on a straightline.

Yeah Nexson here on the board painted the grille surround for me Christmas of '12... He does an exchange program he painted one of his and sent it to me to put under the tree and I sent him the one off the car back once I installed it... He did the rear trim to put under the tree Christmas of '13 and now that I've swapped out the Headlights for 2012 black housings i'll be getting him to do the center beak since it doesn't fit with the new look... There's a thread in the 4G photography section titled "Show me your Painted Grille" or something really close to that I started back in 2012... that's still going strong today... it's pretty much turned into the Nexson Painted Grille Club Thread... there's a ton of us on here he's done grilles for and most have posted pics in that thread....

 

I would agree with this except that to get a car of similar performance and features, it would cost much more money. I guess the only exception is the G37 but you are pushing $50k for the likes of Audi and etc. The mods to "correct" the TL isn't that much when compared. I think its about $200-300 to get the grill painted which is majority of the complaints. Not a big deal if you ask me.

IMO, most Acura buyers are value orientated and 4G TL is an exceptional value.

Nexson has done a great job with his custom front grille for his '09-'11 TL.

In fact, the custom front grille transforms the hideous-looking-front-end '09-'11 TL into a beauty.

 

This is a perfect example of how to make a good car look great.

 

If the 4G originally came with the surrounding area of the grille color matched from the factory like the above pic and or on CarrieLynn's 4G, it would not be as controversial. IMO, this look gives it some character instead of colormatching the whole grille.

 

Yeah it matched well with the silver headlights till I changed them to 2012's with black internals, and made the parking lamps smaller... Now with the front end darker and more aggressive the center still being silver isn't working so well... So it'll be PTM soon... but we've also decided to change direction and get rid of all the silver and chrome on the car except the Vossens... Will be wrapping the window and roof trim when it warms up...

I wasn't planning to get 4G TL, but the look grew on me especially after 2012 re-fresh. Heck, I was even prepared to buy 09-11 TL as long as price/mileage/color combo was right.

If you like it, get it. If you don't, move on to something that you like. No hate from me on 1G through 4G TL as I liked what each gen offered something different and unique. However, if I drive behind a beige Corolla or Camry, I have issues. That's worth another post.

 

Speaking of Camry's and hate... is there something weird with their high beam indicator light on the dash? 90% of the azzholes around here riding around in traffic with their high beams on for no reason blinding me is driving a Camry...

 

^^ Off topic but I am experiencing the same thing where I live....not just limited to the Camry but why are people unable to dim their lights?!?!

I personally dislike the 09-11 beak on certain paint colors. I am glad it was fixed 12+.

Overall the car is a "sleeper" to me. Not flashy, but its one damn fun car to drive.

 

I love the 4G TL. I loved it soo much that it made me give up the TL line and go for the RLX
