What are these?

Was pulling my rear seat out because the guy who installed my coilovers broke the latches on the front of the seat cushion and found these two things.

What are they?

There are two of these...one on each side of the back seat...

And, this is in the middle toward the front.

It's your fuel pump, if you remove that cover your fuel pump is underneath.

He's just being a dick because it's pretty common knowledge to anyone who knows their way around a car what that is. Problem is what's the point of these forums if people can't ask these kind of questions without getting scrutinized.

Yeah. I'm very familiar with his M.O. I obviously don't know my way around underneath my rear seats. If I have a fuel pump issue, I take it to someone much more qualified than me.

This is a new hobby for me, so just learning. Thanks to those who chimed in.

I especially like the that's a wire harness for something comment. I'm still wondering what that thing is.

If I knew what it was I would tell you, as a matter of fact the workshop manual describes it as a wire harness without giving any further details.

it was a legitimate question.. so i dont know why you think i am scrutinizing him..

i take it as if you had to ask what that was.. then you dont know what a fuel pump is..

some of you guys are too sensitive and jump to conclusions too soon.

but wreck, you are right.. it is common knowledge.. for anyone that has the ability to do their own oil change should have somewhat knowledge on where the most common fuel pump locations are.. let alone what a fuel pump looks like.

You're pretty thick if you don't think your comment would come across as being an insult. I just think it wasn't necessary or helpful in anyway, it was bait and nothing else.

Not that my comment matters much but I read a lot more than I post.

Potmilkz has actually toned it down quite a bit lately. He's a big boy and doesn't need me defending him but his comments/advice on the TLs is usually spot on. I've grown to appreciate his knowledge and not take his sarcasm so personal.

The second picture of the wire and device is part of the SRS airbag sensor. Its either a roll sensor or some sort of combination of sensor for the airbag sensor. Any yellow wiring harnesses in the Acuras is SRS related.

Hey pot, don't think it's necessary to call people who don't know what a fuel pump is total idiots. I know you have a fairly extensive knowledge of cars, but most of these things are not common knowledge to someone not familiar with cars. At the end of the day I'm pretty sure it was a joke, but you're adding fuel to the fire right now.

No worries. He's a narcissist. At some point in his immature and young life, it will come back to bite him. He's just young and immature...and, if he's driving this car at that age, probably was or is still being spoon fed.

Maybe it won't bite him on a random message board where he spends most of his life, but it will.

I do appreciate his knowledge...I'll give him that...but, delivery and social skills... Ha.

If you go back and read Potz posts from when he very first joined, he asked a lot of similar questions. Just like anyone else that's trying to learn new things.

you are right, i dont know them.. and as you said "these are not common knowledge" which further proves my point on why i had to ask if he knew what a fuel pump was..

Spoon fed? LOL.. its called hard work.. i just love how the older generation automatically assumes that someone at a young age that has something nice is supported by their parents.. maybe if i was 18 and drive a M3.. then you can say that.. goes to show age does not come with experience..

you wont likely have fuel pump issues as its designed to last the lifetime of the car, unless you're not pumping the required octane....

the wire harness could be anything.
if you get curious enough, trace the wires to and from their starting and end point

I remember people saying I was handed a silver spoon because at the ripe age of 21 I had a brand new 2002 corvette and a 1998 gmc sonoma. Everyone said, I must be doing something illegal or my mom bought it for me. Neither of which were true.

It's very easy to be snide when hidden behind the veil of the internet. Back in the old days, that type of comment would be greeted by a punch in the mouth. Very common unfortunately, the loss of social grace and no fear of the repercussions.

You're dead on with that comment and 90% of the people making those comments wouldn't even open their mouth in public/person.

The tubing of the wire harness in the picture is wrapped in yellow tapes, and any wire loom that is wrapped in yellow tapes is related to the SRS airbags/sensors system.

Just replaced mine in the RDX after 73k, so they do fail.

Any yellow wires are linked to airbags. Don't touch it... or at least I wouldn't. One minor thing and your bags will explode. Saw it happen where I use to work and the audio guy cut into a yellow wire on a 370z and it blew up in his face. Expensive fix.
