What mods/projects are you working on during lockdown/social distancing?

I've got a lot of ideas and time on my hands due to working from home. This weekend I'm going to put on my summer wheels and I'll also be adding RDX caliper covers. I ordered 4 from the Acura dealership which is still open, oddly enough the Honda dealership is completely closed. The independent mechanic I use is also completely closed.

Crazy thing is my dad's Ridgeline just broke and needs a new steering rack and pinion yet nowhere is open to do it. Anyways here's a quick test fit through the wheel.

Updates to come...

So what modifications or projects of any kind are you working on to keep busy?

Nice covers!

For me, just wrapped up a timing belt replacement (67,000 miles but age was why I replaced it), oil pan reseal, oil pump reseal, water pump, pulleys, spark plugs and oil change. Should get me thru another 100K+ I hope.

Absolutely nothing. Leaving it parked in the garage. Gotta get one rim fixed before I throw them back on, one has a nice pothole flat spot that leaks a few PSI per week.

Prior to the stay at home order, I was hoping to have the rear windshield stripped and re-tinted.

(the tint is starting to come undone at the bottom)

RDX caliper covers are done. The process wasn't too bad. They just need to be molded a bit by hand to fit around the calipers.

What is everyone else doing to stay busy?

Caliper covers look great! How much did they run at the dealer? And if you don’t mind how exactly do you mould them to fit?

They were $22 Canadian each from the dealership. They are made of thin metal and only direct fit for the front caliper of a 2nd gen RDX. So they are somewhat malable by hand. You just bend the tabs and manipulate them until they hug the calipers and use rtv adhesive to make sure they will stay put. The front calipers require you to cut off the top tab. Overall it's an easy job that I would say almost anyone can do.

Building a new grille. Eventually giving my 2010 a nose job.

Still tons of work to do, trimming the hex mesh, sanding, priming, painting (bezel will be black), and gluing the mesh under the bezel so everything can still be properly disassembled if needed.

Only drawback is I need to upgrade the entire front end to 2012+ because I didn't feel like modding a 2009-11 grille (it's way easier to achieve the look I wanted with the bezel already built into the design), but I like that style anyway.

And I'm not necessarily in a rush, I refuse to screw this up and have it look like a cheap eBay grille lol.

Just bought my car a few weeks ago and plan to vinyl wrap the front grill and rear trunk chrome pieces white to match the car, along with blacking out the chrome around the windows with vinyl wrap as well.
