Yeah I'm itching for non-Acura owners to post elsewhere about yearning for a non-Acura product. Don't get me wrong just appears misplaced to me.

And before I get the canned responses that former owner's did this and did that, the key word is former, as in Joe Montana was the former 49'ers QB then Steve Young was the QB who was pressing to win SF's 5th title. Former and $3.45 will get you a latte at Starbucks, that's about it.

I don't blame Honda for waiting to adopt DI. Let the others work the kinks out at the expense of their reliability reputation, and then adopt it and make it better.

Obviously, if Audi is getting carbon build up like that, they are not running optimum air/fuel ratios. It's gotta be running rich to put out deposits like that. Did your friend baby his Audi? Back in the old days, you needed to run wide open several times a week to keep the carbon burned off. It sure would be a shame to have to run a modern performance car at WOT from time to time..."...but officer, honest, I was just cleaning my engine!"

Yes he opened her up quite often. He has the APR stage 2 flash and KMD High pressure fuel pump. Forge diverter valve.... and I think thats it. I think it has something to do with EGR. There is no other way that much carbon can build up like that.

There are worse cases than this. This one is it at 60k miles, its a friend of mines 2006 Audi A4 2.0T

I apologize for the crappy pic, he couldn't get a good focus because of the angle.

That is a common problem in many Audis. This includes the 420hp RS4 V8 (which ill add a funny factoid later), however, (i have both a 2010 Acura TL SHAWD, and a 2008 Lexus ISF) Toyota did it right, and actually does have a secondary injector for that specific purpose to keep the valves from getting carbon build up, there are right ways to do direct injection correctly, and one of them is in my ISF, just so happens Audi doesn't know what the hell they are doing,

funny thing is, is that the RS4 (as does the R8) uses the V8 motor that was derived from a MUGEN race motor. for those that dont know what mugen is, is it Hondas performance brand developed a long time ago, i believe, by Honda's son.
